This paper presents a relatively simple method of repairing a large porcelain fracture in a porcelain-fused-to-metal crown that is part of a multi-unit fixed partial denture. The technique involves fitting a "modified" porcelain-fused-to-metal crown over the original damaged crown following some preparation of the original crown. This technique is of special value when a permanently cemented multi-unit restoration is involved, eliminating the need to replace the entire restoration and providing a durable esthetic result.

Aim: Porcelain-fused-to-metal (PFM) restorations are essential in fixed prosthodontics for their strength and esthetics, but are prone to fractures due to material disparities and stress factors. This study evaluates the shear bond strength (SBS) of two porcelain repair systems for cohesive and adhesive fractures in conventional PFM and direct metal laser-sintered (DMLS) restorations, addressing clinical repair needs.
Materials And Methods: Thirty metal-ceramic discs were fabricated and divided into two main groups based on the fabrication method: Conventional casting and DMLS.

Clinical Considerations: The patient's chief complaint was dissatisfaction with her smile. Radiographic and clinical evaluations led to the recommendation to replace the porcelain-fused-to-metal crowns on the maxillary central and lateral incisors with all-ceramic crowns.
