Purpose: Is to evaluate the antagonistic, maxillary ridge resorption for different prosthetic modalities mainly mucosa-supported mandibular complete overdentures, combined mucosa implant-supported mandibular complete overdenture, and lower conventional complete dentures.

Materials And Methods: Fifteen completely edentulous patients were divided into 3 groups; 5 patients each. Group I patients received maxillary conventional denture and mandibular overdentures retained by magnet attachment on 2 implants (mainly mucosa-supported overdenture). Group II patients received maxillary conventional denture and mandibular overdentures retained by bar attachment on 2 implants (combined mucosa implant-supported overdenture). Group III patients received upper and lower conventional complete denture. All patients were evaluated clinically and radiographically immediately after insertion and after 1 and 2 years. Panoramic radiographic film was used to evaluate the antagonistic maxillary ridge resorption.

Results: Indicated a more pronounced annual bone resorption of the antagonistic maxillary ridge after 2 years in patients with conventional complete denture wearers when compared with patients with combined mucosa implant-supported mandibular complete overdenture and mainly mucosa-supported mandibular complete overdenture groups.

Conclusion: Using a combined mucosa implant-supported mandibular complete overdenture the amount of antagonistic maxillary alveolar bone resorption increases when compared with the mainly mucosa-supported complete overdenture.

Purpose: Artificial intelligence (AI) may be used to learn and predict the maxillomandibular relationship, particularly when the number of occluding teeth pairs is insufficient. This study aimed to investigate the feasibility of training a new two-stage coarse-to-fine teeth alignment pipeline AI system in predicting maxillomandibular relationships based on the occlusal morphology of antagonistic teeth.

Methods: Maxillary and mandibular stone casts were collected and scanned at the maximal intercuspal position (MIP).

Objective: This retrospective single-centre study aimed to compare the efficacy of maxillary second molar intrusion with two different approaches, miniscrew-assisted molar intrusion and traditional segmental archwire intrusion, and to compare orthodontically induced external apical root resorption (OIERR) during intrusion between two groups via cone beam computed tomography (CBCT).

Materials And Methods: A total of 40 adult patients (33.6 ± 10.

Statement Of Problem: A working knowledge of the analytical capacities of contemporary registration methods is essential for prosthetic treatment; however, there is a paucity of studies which coherently investigate the capabilities and limitations of the various diagnostic procedures utilized for prosthetic occlusion.

Purpose: The present prospective clinical study aimed to evaluate the similarities and differences among contemporary registration methods through comparative analysis.

Material And Methods: The habitual static occlusion of 19 healthy individuals (14 women; mean age ± standard deviation, 30.

The Assessment of External Nasal Valve Efficiency After Le Fort I Surgery.

Ann Plast Surg

October 2023

From the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Faculty of Dentistry, Istinye University, Istanbul, Turkey.

Background: The present study investigated how external nasal valve function is affected after Le Fort I osteotomy using external nasal valve efficiency (ENVE) index.

Materials And Methods: Twenty-one patients who underwent Le Fort I osteotomy with or without mandibular osteotomy were included in the retrospective study. Preoperative and postoperative standardized videos of basal view of the nose during breathing were recorded, and 2 screenshots were taken, 1 in the resting position and the other after deep inspiration.
