Aims: We assessed the use of the endothelial progenitor cell (EPC) capture stent in primary percutaneous intervention in ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI).

Methods And Results: One hundred and twenty patients with acute STEMI without cardiogenic shock received 129 EPC capture stents. Procedural success was achieved in 95% of patients. Dual antiplatelet therapy was given for a month and statin therapy started immediately after the procedure. The study end points are major adverse cardiac events inhospital and at 30 days, 6 months, and 1 year. Hypertension was present in 47.5% and diabetes mellitus in 30% of the patients. The left anterior descending artery was the treated artery in 54% of the patients. Mean lesion length was 17.4 +/- 7.15 mm with mean reference vessel diameter of 3.18 +/- 0.6 mm. Platelet glycoprotein IIb/IIIa inhibitor was used in 14% of patients and 58% had thrombosuction before stent implantation. Ninety-five percent of patients achieved Thrombolysis in Myocardial Infarction 3 flow with cumulative major adverse cardiac event rate at 1.6% inhospital, 4.2% at 30 days, 5.8% at 6 months, and 9.2% at 1 year. There was 1 patient each with acute and subacute stent thrombosis but no incidence of late stent thrombosis.

Conclusion: Using EPC capture stent during primary percutaneous coronary intervention for STEMI is feasible and safe.

Introduction/aim: The partial deployment technique (PDT) is an unconventional option of T-branch deployment to allow target arteries (TAs) cannulation/stenting from the upper arm access, in case of narrow (NPA: <25mm) or severely angulated (APA: >60°) aorta. Aim of this study was to report outcomes of the endovascular repair of complex aortic (c-AAAs) and thoracoabdominal (TAAAs) aneurysms by T-branch and PDT.

Methods: All consecutive patients underwent urgent endovascular repair of c-AAAs and TAAAs by T-branch (Cook-Medical, Bloomington, IN, US) and PDT from 2021 to 2023 were analyzed.

Impact of thrombus composition on virtual thrombectomy procedures using human clot analogues mechanical data.

Endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) aims at restoring blood flow in case of acute ischemic stroke by removing the thrombus occluding a large cerebral artery. During the procedure with stent-retriever, the thrombus is captured within the device, which is then retrieved, subjecting the thrombus to several forces, potentially leading to its fragmentation. In silico studies, along with mechanical characterisation of thrombi, can enhance our understanding of the EVT, helping the development of new devices and interventional strategies.

Intraluminal prosthetic graft thrombus (IPT) has been described in case of endovascular aortic pathology repair. This study aimed to assess hemodynamic indicators associated with various anatomical morphologies following endovascular aortic repair (EVAR), aiming to offer further references for the choice of clinical therapy. Six model models (normal, iliac compression, aortic compression, aortoiliac compression, iliac distortion, and long-leg stent) were established based on common anatomical morphologies following EVAR.

The hemodynamic responses to enhanced external counterpulsation therapy in post-PCI patients with a multi-dimension 0/1D-3D model.

Enhanced external counterpulsation (EECP) is widely utilized in rehabilitating patients after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) and has demonstrated efficacy in promoting cardiovascular function recovery. Although the precise mechanisms of the therapeutic effects remain elusive, it is widely postulated that the improvement of biomechanical environment induced by EECP plays a critical role. This study aimed to unravel the underlying mechanism through a numerical investigation of the in-stent biomechanical environment during EECP using an advanced multi-dimensional 0/1D-3D coupled model.

Adherence to follow-up ten years after hypospadias repair.

J Pediatr Urol

Division of Pediatric Urology, Riley Hospital for Children, Indiana University School of Medicine, Indianapolis, IN, USA.

Introduction: Periodic follow-up prior to and after puberty to evaluate for long-term sequalae following hypospadias repair is commonly recommended. Few studies have evaluated this follow-up, especially into adulthood. This study aimed to evaluate adherence to routine postoperative follow-up appointments over 10 years following elective hypospadias repair.
