We demonstrate electro-optic spectral tuning in a continuous-wave periodically poled LiNbO(3) (PPLN) optical parametric oscillator (OPO). We achieve 8.91 cm(-1) of rapid spectral tuning, with a linear tuning rate of 2.89 cm(-1) /(kV/mm), by applying electric fields up to +/-1.5 kV/mm across the crystal while it is operating within the OPO. Intentionally poling the PPLN crystal with an asymmetric domain structure enables tuning, and numerical predictions closely match the experimental observations. The tuning is considerably larger than the typical operational bandwidth of the OPO, indicating that we are in fact shifting the gain curve of the PPLN crystal.

Solar-driven interfacial evaporation technology is regarded as a promising strategy for global freshwater shortage owing to its green and sustainable desalination process. Graphene aerogel (GA) is widely utilized in the design of solar-driven steam generation systems due to its excellent photothermal conversion efficiency and broad spectral absorption. Given the significant impact of hydrophilicity and thermal insulation on the performance of evaporators, nitrogen doping in the graphene structure not only effectively enhances its wettability but also allows for moderate tuning of its thermal conductivity, thereby optimizing the overall performance of the evaporator.

Objective: This study aims to evaluate the viability of a hypothesis for selective targeting of skin cancer cells by exploiting the spectral gap with healthy cells using analytical and numerical simulation.
Methods: The spectral gap was first identified using a viscoelastic dynamic model, with the physical and mechanical properties of healthy and cancerous skin cells deduced from previous experimental studies conducted on cell lines. The outcome of the analytical simulation was verified numerically using modal and harmonic analysis.
We demonstrate a compact ring-assisted Mach-Zehnder interferometer (RAMZI)-based silicon photonic interleaver with a 400 GHz free spectral range (FSR), featuring flat passbands exceeding a spectral range of 50 nm. Additionally, we introduce a novel, to the best of our knowledge, add-on structure and tuning method enabling automated compensation for fabrication imperfections, precise shaping of the RAMZI flat-top passbands, and alignment with Kerr comb lines. Experimental results have shown successful interleaving of eight channels of distributed-feedback (DFB) lasers as well as a 200 GHz Kerr comb, both achieving an extinction ratio of approximately 20 dB.

Herein, a garnet NaCaHfGeO:Cr phosphor with an internal quantum efficiency (IQE) of 79.2% has been developed, which exhibits a relatively long wavelength NIR emission peak at 830 nm and a full width at half maximum (FWHM) of 144 nm.
