Objective: To observe the anti-viral therapy effect on HBV reactivation in malignant tumor patients and hepatitis B virus carriers after their cancer chemotherapy.
Methods: Thirteen cancer patients but also chronic hepatitis B virus carriers were enrolled in this study. They were randomly put into two groups. Eight patients were put in the therapeutic group. They all had abnormal liver functions induced by the reactivation of HBV after their cancer chemotherapy. Then they were treated with lamivudine. The other 5 cases were treated with lamivudine before their cancer chemotherapy when their serum HBV DNA levels were less than 10(3) copies/ml (preventive therapeutic group). The two groups were followed-up with liver function tests and serum HBV DNA level measurements.
Results: Among the 8 cases of the therapeutic group, 5 cases died of liver failure; cancer chemotherapy was postponed or even terminated in 3 patients due to liver function abnormality and anti-virus treatment was started. In the preventive therapy group, no HBV reactivation was observed in any of the 5 cases.
Conclusion: For HBV carrier cancer patients, an anti-viral therapy before their cancer chemotherapy seems to be very important.

This study presents a novel approach to modeling breast cancer dynamics, one of the most significant health threats to women worldwide. Utilizing a piecewise mathematical framework, we incorporate both deterministic and stochastic elements of cancer progression. The model is divided into three distinct phases: (1) initial growth, characterized by a constant-order Caputo proportional operator (CPC), (2) intermediate growth, modeled by a variable-order CPC, and (3) advanced stages, capturing stochastic fluctuations in cancer cell populations using a stochastic operator.

Despite recent advances in cancer treatment, there is still a need for novel compounds with antineoplastic activity. Among 11 biphenyl-based organogold(III) -heterocyclic carbene (NHC) (BGC) complexes of general formula [(C^C)Au(NHC-pyr)X], where (C^C) = 4,4'-ditertbutylbiphenyl, X = Cl or phenylacetylide, and (NHC-pyr) is a pyridyl-substituted NHC ligand, the complex bearing a 4-CF-pyridyl substituent and a chloride ligand showed promising antineoplastic activity on the triple negative breast cancer cell line. was able to induce cell apoptosis but had no effect on the cell cycle.

Rationale: The occurrence of refractory small cell lung cancer (rSCLC) with pancreatic metastasis is a relatively rare clinical condition, which is typically accompanied by a poor prognosis and rapid disease progression.
Patient Concerns: A 65-year-old male farmer from China was diagnosed with limited-stage small cell lung cancer (SCLC) 8 months ago. Following 6 cycles of EP chemotherapy, the patient's tumor response showed partial relief.

To assess whether metabolic syndrome can be used as a reference index to evaluate the efficacy of neoadjuvant chemotherapy treatment for breast cancer (BC). Seventy cases of female BC patients who received neoadjuvant chemotherapy treatment and surgical treatment at the Glandular Surgery Department of Hebei Provincial People's Hospital from January 2021 to December 2023 were retrospectively collected, and clinical data such as puncture pathology were recorded. The clinical data were analyzed by 1-way analysis using the χ2 test, and further multifactorial logistic regression analysis was performed for statistically significant differences.
