Mycetoma is a chronic, granulomatous, subcutaneous, inflammatory disease caused by true fungi (eumycetoma) or filamentous bacteria (actinomycetoma). Eumycetoma usually affects adult males involving limbs and other exposed body parts. Children represent the least commonly encountered age group with this disease. A case of subcutaneous facial mycosis due to Madurella mycetomatis in a three year old child was diagnosed at the Microbiology department Armed Forces Institute of Pathology Rawalpindi, which to our knowledge is the first case reported of its kind. Early diagnosis and timely medical therapy lead to favourable outcome without any surgical intervention.

Allergen-specific immunotherapy (AIT) is the only treatment that addresses the root cause of immunoglobulin E (IgE)-mediated allergies, but conventional methods face challenges with treatment duration, patient compliance, and adverse effects. In this study, we propose intratonsillar immunotherapy (ITIT) as a new effective and safer route for AIT. Prior to clinical trials, we analyzed tonsil samples from human subjects to assess immune responses, measuring interleukin-4 (IL-4), IL-21, total IgE (tIgE), and allergen-specific IgE concentrations using ELISA and BioIC.

Naloxone can effectively rescue victims from opioid overdose, but less than 5% survive due to delayed or absent first responder intervention. Current overdose reversal systems face key limitations, including low user adherence, false positive detection, and slow antidote delivery. Here, we describe a subcutaneously implanted robotic first responder to overcome these challenges.

Neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) is characterized by café-au-lait patches on the skin and the presence of neurofibromas. Gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST) is the most common GI tumour in NF1 patients. In NF1-associated GIST, KIT and PDGFRA mutations are frequently absent and imatinib is ineffective.

Purpose: To describe a surgical method for correcting lower lid entropion, lateral canthal entropion, and macroblepharon.
Methods: Lid margins were incised at a 45° angle, and lateral lid margins and a rhomboid shaped piece of skin were resected based on the degree of macroblepharon. Subcutaneous tissue was sutured with absorbable sutures and anchored to the orbital ligament with a non-absorbable suture to maintain lateral canthal position.
