Purpose: This study aims to assess the impact of unclassified renal cell carcinoma (uRCC) on clinical, pathological, and oncological outcomes compared with clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC).
Materials And Methods: We analyzed the data of 48 uRCC and 688 ccRCC cases, collected from a histopathological database at a single center from July 2011 to August 2019. uRCC cases were confirmed according to the 2016 World Health Organization classification.

Inferior vena cava (IVC) invasion by tumor thrombus poses a significant surgical challenge, often requiring vascular reconstruction. Standard methods, including prosthetic and autologous vein grafts, have limitations such as infection risks, anticoagulation demands, and increased costs. We present the case of a 66-year-old male with a right renal tumor (T3bN0M0, Neves Zincke II) and gross hematuria, who underwent radical nephrectomy with open thrombectomy.

Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is a heterogeneous disease that represents the most common type of kidney cancer. The classification of RCC is primarily based on distinct morphological and molecular characteristics, with two broad categories: clear cell RCC (ccRCC) and non-clear cell RCC (nccRCC). Clear cell RCC is the predominant subtype, representing about 70-80% of all RCC cases, while non-clear cell subtypes collectively make up the remaining 20-30%.

Introduction: Immuno-oncology (IO) therapies have become integral to renal cell carcinoma (RCC) management, RCC remains a complex malignancy with diverse clinical behaviors and a heterogeneous tumor microenvironment, highlighting the need for predictive biomarkers to optimize therapy.
Areas Covered: This review synthesizes recent findings from clinical trials, translational studies, and molecular analyses to provide an updated perspective on biomarker research for IO therapies in RCC. A literature search was conducted using PubMed, Embase, and Web of Science for articles published between January 2010 and November 2024.

Clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) poses a significant global health challenge as its incidence continues to rise, resulting in a substantial annual mortality rate. Major clinical challenges to current ccRCC treatments include high drug-resistance rates as well as dose-limiting adverse events; underlining the need to identify additional 'druggable' targets. TGF-β1, VEGF, and PD-L1 are potential therapeutic targets in ccRCC.
