The two title dinuclear copper(II) complexes, [Cu2Cl4(C17H20Cl2N2)2], (I), and [Cu2Cl4(C19H22N2O4)2], (II), have similar coordination environments. In each complex, the asymmetric unit consists of one half-molecule and the two copper centres are bridged by a pair of Cl atoms, resulting in complexes with centrosymmetric structures containing Cu(mu-Cl)2Cu parallelogram cores; the Cu...Cu separations and Cu-Cl-Cu angles are 3.4285 (8) A and 83.36 (3) degrees, respectively, for (I), and 3.565 (2) A and 84.39 (7) degrees for (II). Each Cu atom is five-coordinated and the coordination geometry around the Cu atom is best described as a distorted square-pyramid with a tau value of 0.155 (3) for (I) and 0.092 (7) for (II). The apical Cu-Cl bond length is 2.852 (1) A for (I) and 2.971 (2) A for (II). The basal Cu-Cl and Cu-N average bonds lengths are 2.2673 (9) and 2.030 (2) A, respectively, for (I), and 2.280 (2) and 2.038 (6) A for (II). The molecules of (I) are linked by one C-H...Cl hydrogen bond into a complex [10 1] sheet. The molecules of (II) are linked by one C-H...Cl and one N-H...O hydrogen bond into a complex [100] sheet.

, an obligate symbiont of certain ascidians (sea squirts found in tropical areas), produces various cyclic pseudo-octapeptides in large quantities. These secondary metabolites have attracted the attention of medicinal chemists and, due to their four azol(in)e and four amide donor groups, coordination chemists have become interested in these molecules. The structures of the metal-free macrocycles and their dinuclear copper(II) complexes are known, and solution equilibria, spectroscopic properties and a range of biologically relevant reactions have been studied in detail.

Herein, we report the reaction between four 1,2-dibromoxylenes and two tetra-3-pyridylporphyrins for the formation of a cofacial porphyrin core spanned by dipyridinium xylene moieties. The metal-free organic nanocage (oNC) was synthesized in one twenty-four h step at a gram-scale with a 91.5% yield.

This research embarked on the study of a new binaphthyl phosphate scaffold of copper. There are two independent neutral complexes in the asymmetric unit: Cu1/Cu2 (I) and Cu3/Cu4 (II) from a similar structure to , with one arm formed by an intra-hydrogen bond between the water molecule bonded to the copper and the phosphine oxide (PO) moieties. Moreover, in the first complex two water and one ketone molecule complete the coordination sphere of the two-copper metals, instead, in the second one, one water and two ketone molecules.

A new complex of copper(II) with methyl-5-(trifluoromethyl)pyrazol-3-yl-ketazine (HL) was synthesized with the composition [CuL]∙CHOH (). Recrystallization of the sample from DMSO yielded a single crystal of the composition [CuL((CH)SO)] (). The coordination compounds were studied by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis, IR spectroscopy, and static magnetic susceptibility method.

The present study focuses on the synthesis and structural characterization of a novel dinuclear Cu complex, [tri-chlorido-copper(II)]-μ-chlorido-{bis-[2-hy-droxy-'-(propan-2-yl-idene)benzohydrazide]copper(II)} monohydrate, [CuCl(CHNO)]·HO or [Cu(H )(μ-Cl)CuCl]·HO [H = 2-hy-droxy-'-(propan-2-yl-idene)benzohydrazide]. The complex crystallizes in the monoclinic space group 2/ with one mol-ecule of water, which forms inter-actions with the ligands. The first copper ion is penta-coordinated to two benzohydrazine-derived ligands two nitro-gen and two oxygen atoms, and one bridging chloride, which is also coordinated by the second copper ion alongside three terminal chlorines in a distorted tetra-hedral geometry.
