Article Abstract

Stochastic processes are intrinsic phenomena that perturb developmental processes. However, the canalization process restricts the magnitude of perturbation and hence the magnitude of morphological variation during development. Heat-shock protein 90 (Hsp90) chaperones are a class of proteins stabilizing a network of 'client' proteins that are involved in diverse signal transduction pathways affecting development. Here it is reported that a reduction of Hsp90 gene dose creates canalization perturbations that affect many aspects of Arabidopsis development and results in a plethora of morphological alterations. Hence, Hsp90 restricts stochastic phenomena by minimizing perturbations, thereby canalizing development. It is also shown that morphogenesis is determined by three mutually inter-related parameters: genotype, environment, and time. Hsp90 is involved in the interaction of these three parameters which ultimately affect developmental processes. The amount of phenotypic variation upon the reduction of Hsp90 function could be perceived as adaptive and could have an impact on the evolutionary process.

Current understanding of the longitudinal relationships between different aspects of peer relationships and mental health problems in early- to mid-adolescence is limited. In particular, the role played by gender in these developmental cascades processes is unclear, little is known about within-person effects between bullying victimization and internalizing symptoms, and the theorized benefits of friendship and social support are largely untested. Addressing these important research gaps, this study tested a number of theory-driven hypotheses (e.

An ongoing debate on the association between phonological processing and number knowledge concerns the extent to which they influence each other during early childhood. The current study aims to establish the direction of the developmental relationship between these two kinds of abilities at an early age. Eighty-two Chinese kindergarten children were followed from 5 to 6 years old with a one-year interval.

Mediator25 (MED25) has been ascribed as a signal-processing and -integrating center that controls jasmonate (JA)-induced and MYC2-dependent transcriptional output. A better understanding of the regulation of MED25 stability will undoubtedly advance our knowledge of the precise regulation of JA signaling-related transcriptional output. Here, we report that Arabidopsis MED16 activates JA-responsive gene expression by promoting MED25 stability.

Bacterial artificial chromosome transgenic models, including most Cre-recombinases, enable potent interrogation of gene function in vivo but require rigorous validation as limitations emerge. Due to its high relevance to metabolic studies, we perform comprehensive analysis of the Ucp1-Cre line which is widely used for brown fat research. Hemizygotes exhibit major brown and white fat transcriptomic dysregulation, indicating potential altered tissue function.

Hierarchy has been identified as a principle underlying the organization of human brain networks. However, it remains unclear how the network hierarchy is disrupted in Parkinson's disease (PD) motor symptoms and, how it is modulated by the underlying genetic architecture. The aim of this study was to explore alterations in the motor functional hierarchical organization of the cerebrum and their underlying genetic mechanism.
