This study was designed to determine the optimal high dose for cytosine arabinoside (ara-C) in combination with fludarabine, granulocyte colony-stimulating factor, and mitoxantrone (FLAGM) in adult patients with relapsed or refractory acute myeloid leukemia. Nine patients were enrolled at increasing dosage levels of ara-C (8, 12, and 16 g/m2 per dose level). Ara-C and fludarabine were administered once a day at level 1, once or twice a day at level 2, and twice a day at level 3. All patients had grade 4 hematologic toxicity. The most common adverse events were of grade 2 or less, with nausea and vomiting being the most common (6 events), followed by diarrhea (5 events), and rash (5 events). Of the 13 grade 3 nonhematologic toxicities reported, the 2 most common were febrile neutropenia (6 events) and disseminated intravascular coagulation (3 events). No early deaths were observed. FLAGM with high-dose ara-C was considered safe for patients, and the recommended dosage of ara-C in this study was 2 g/m2 every 12 hours for a total dose of 16 g/m2.

Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disorder affecting multiple joints and requires lifelong treatment. Present study was designed to formulate Esculin-loaded chitosan nanoparticles (ENPs) and evaluation of its anti-inflammatory and anti-arthritic action. The acute toxicity study of ENPs was also performed.

Systemic bile acid homeostasis plays an important role in human health. In this study, a physiologically based kinetic (PBK) model that includes microbial bile acid deconjugation and intestinal bile acid reuptake via the apical sodium-dependent bile acid transporter (ASBT) was applied to predict the systemic plasma bile acid concentrations in human upon oral treatment with the antibiotic tobramycin. Tobramycin was previously shown to inhibit intestinal deconjugation and reuptake of bile acids and to affect bile acid homeostasis upon oral exposure of rats.

Purpose: Achieving precise postoperative alignment is critical for the long-term success of total knee arthroplasty (TKA). Long-leg standing radiograph (LLR) at 6 weeks post-op is the gold standard for assessing alignment, but its reliance on weight-bearing and positioning makes it less practical in the early postoperative period. Supine computed tomography scanogram (CTS) offers a potential alternative.

Background: Despite constant improvements, incontinence is one of the most relevant and quality-of-life-reducing side effects of radical prostatectomy (RP) and, in addition to patient-specific factors such as age, the experience of the surgeon/center and the surgical technique used play an important role.
Aims: To present current real-world data on short-term incontinence after RP from one of the largest German rehabilitation centers in 2022 and to compare it to the results from the same institution in 2016.
Methods And Results: Retrospective, unicentric, univariate analysis of data from 1394 men after RP in 2022 on admission and discharge from the rehabilitation clinic.
Background and Objective: Turmeric, strawberries and broccoli are popular in the community for their beneficial effects in improving lipid profile, but poor bioavailability and absorption of their phytochemical compounds might reduce their effects while given separately. Therefore, their combination might provide a synergistic enhancement of their property as hypolipidemic agents. This study aims to examine the effects of turmeric, strawberry and broccoli in improving lipid profile in adult patients with hypercholesterolemia.
