Visual detection of kanamycin with functionalized Au nanoparticles.

Mikrochim Acta

January 2025

Institute of Chemical Engineering, Guangdong Academy of Sciences, Guangzhou, 510665, People's Republic of China.

A simple and rapid colorimetric detection strategy, based on hydrogen bond identification of 6-thioguanine (6-TG) functionalized Au nanoparticles (AuNPs), is proposed for highly selective and sensitive determination of kanamycin (KA). In this strategy, the hydrogen bond interaction between 6-TG and kanamycin induces AuNPs to agglomerate, with a consequent color change of AuNPs from wine red to purple or even blue. The kanamycin concentrations can be quantified by employing UV-vis spectrophotometer.

Molecular diagnosis limitations, including complex treatment processes, low cost-effectiveness, and operator-dependent low reproducibility, interrupt the timely prevention of disease spread and the development of medical devices for home and outdoor uses. A newly fabricated gold nanopillar array-based film is presented for superior photothermal energy conversion. Magnifying the metal film surface-to-volume ratio increases the photothermal energy conversion efficiency, resulting in a swift reduction in the gene amplification reaction time.

Understanding the scale and nature of avoidable healthcare-associated harm for prisoners in England: protocol for a retrospective cross-sectional study.

BMJ Open

December 2024

Centre for Mental Health and Safety, Division of Psychology and Mental Health, School of Health Sciences, Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health, The University of Manchester, Manchester, UK

Introduction: Around 1 in 20 patients experience avoidable healthcare-associated harm worldwide. Despite longstanding concerns, there is insufficient information available about the safety of healthcare for prisoners. To address this, this study will investigate the scale and nature of avoidable healthcare-associated harm for prisoners in England.

Self-powered dual-photoelectrode photoelectrochemical aptasensor amplified by hemin/G-quadruplex-based DNAzyme.

Mikrochim Acta

January 2025

Department of General Surgery, Qilu Hospital (Qingdao), Cheeloo College of Medicine, Shandong University, 758 Hefei Road, Qingdao, Shandong, 266035, P.R. China.

A self-powered dual-electrode aptasensor was developed for the detection of tumor marker carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA). The composite BiVO/ZnInS, which is capable of forming a Z-scheme heterojunction, was chosen as the photoanode, and the AuNP/CuBiO complex was chosen as the photocathode in photoelectrochemical (PEC) detection. The experiments showed that the constructed self-powered dual-electrode system had a good photoelectric response to white light, and the photocurrent signal of the photocathode was significantly enhanced under the influence of the photoanode.
