Reported herein is the asymmetric pinacol coupling of aromatic aldehydes with chiral Salan-Mo(VI) dioxo complex as an effective precatalyst. Chiral diols were obtained with high diastereoselectivity and enantioselectivity up to 92/8 and 95%, respectively. The possible mechanism of the pinacol coupling reaction with the catalytic system was investigated. The X-ray crystal structure of the precatalyst Mo(L3)O2 was determined and the oxidation state of the intermediate C was confirmed as +4 with X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy study. The proposed mechanism speculated the stereochemical outcome of the reaction, and a working model for the radical coupling of E was proposed, which explained the absolute configuration of the favored (S,S)-enantiomer of the dl isomer.

-succinimidyl-[F]fluorobenzoate ([F]SFB) is commonly prepared through a three-step procedure starting from [F]fluoride ion. A number of methods for the single-step radiosynthesis of [F]SFB have been introduced recently, including the radiofluorination of diaryliodonium salts and the Cu-mediated F-fluorination of pinacol aryl boronates and aryl tributyl stannanes, but they still have the drawbacks of lengthy product purification procedures. In the present work, two approaches for the direct labeling of [F]SFB from diaryliodonium (DAI) salt () and pinacol aryl boronate () are evaluated, with a major focus on developing a fast and simple SPE-based purification procedure.

Purpose: The monoacylglycerol lipase (MAGL) plays a pivotal role in modulating the endocannabinoid system and is considered an attractive therapeutic target for diseases in both the central nervous system and periphery. The current study aimed to develop and evaluate a suitable carbon-11 labeled tracer for imaging MAGL in preclinical studies.
Methods: (R)-YH168 was synthesized via a multi-step pathway and its half-maximal inhibitory concentration (IC) values were measured using an enzymatic assay.

The reactions of cyclic α,β-unsaturated -tosylhydrazones and alkylboronic acids promoted by 370-390 nm light in the presence of a base give rise to allylic boronic acids that can be trapped as the corresponding pinacolboronates by treatment with pinacol. This reaction features wide scope regarding both coupling partners and functional group tolerance, allowing for the incorporation of a variety of natural product-derived fragments. The allylic boronic acids can be also reacted in a one-pot process with aldehydes, to produce homoallylic alcohols with very high diastereoselectivity.

A two-step procedure, combining a SmI-mediated transannular pinacol coupling reaction with an acid-catalyzed pinacol rearrangement process, was employed to prepare a diverse range of 1-substituted bicyclo[2.1.1]hexan-5-ones from cyclobutanedione derivatives.
