We have constructed a low-cost aquatic animal holding system that provides an alternative to expensive, commercially available systems. Our flow-through system is especially useful for programs that are limited in space and funding. The easy assembly and maintenance of the system are advantages for the researchers who may be unfamiliar with aquatic animals.

With the development of industry, agriculture, and aquaculture, excessive ammonia nitrogen mainly involving ionic ammonia (NH) and molecular ammonia (NH) has inevitable access to the aquatic environment, posing a severe threat to water safety. Photocatalytic technology shows great advantages for ammonia nitrogen removal, such as its efficiency, reusability, low cost, and environmental friendliness. In this study, CP (g-CN/CoP) composite materials, which exhibited high-efficiency ammonia nitrogen removal, were synthesized through a simple self-assembly method.

A ligand-promoted oxidative dehydrogenation C-H alkenylation of indoles and olefins was achieved using commercial and low-cost Co(NO)·6HO as a catalyst and Mn(OAc) as an oxidant. The design and selection of electrically unique methyl-substituted salicylaldehyde as a ligand is the key to achieve this transformation. This protocol can introduce an indole backbone into diverse bioactive molecules such as ibuprofen, naproxen, and Estrol for late-stage synthetic modification, which has potential applications in the discovery of drug molecules containing an indole motif.

While -phenylenediamine antioxidants (PPDs) pose potential risks to aquatic ecosystems, their environmental persistence and transformation remain ambiguous due to the undefined nature of PPD C-N bond hydrolysis. Here, we investigated the hydrolysis patterns of PPDs by analyzing their hydrolysis half-lives, hydrolysis products around neutral pH (pH 6.0-7.

Takifugu obscurus (pufferfish) is an important species in aquaculture and has become widely popular in China and Japan. However, the development of the pufferfish aquaculture industry has been significantly impacted by severe diseases. Fish cell lines, as a model for in vitro studies, have the advantages of low cost, easy culture, and low genetic variation rate.

Efficient detection of chloramphenicol (CAP) in the environment and food products is crucial for addressing global health and environmental safety concerns. This study presents the development of a cost-effective hybrid electrocatalyst comprising lignocellulosic carbon sheets, graphene oxide, and manganese oxide (LCSs/GO@MnO) for CAP detection using a simple electrochemical sensor fabricated on a glassy carbon electrode (GCE) substrate. The synergistic interaction between LCSs, GO, and MnO enhance the electroactive surface area of GCE, facilitating effective dispersion and electrode modification.
