This paper presents new theoretical and experimental results that quantify the role of surfactant adsorption and the related interfacial tension changes and interfacial forces in the emulsion film drainage and equilibrium. The experimental results were obtained with plane-parallel microscopic films from aqueous sodium dodecyl sulphate solutions formed between two toluene droplets using an improved micro-interferometric technique. The comparison between the theory and the experimental data show that the emulsion film drainage and equilibrium are controlled by the DLVO interfacial forces. The effect of interfacial viscosity and interfacial tension gradient (the Marangoni number) on the film drainage is also significant.

Hypothesis: Plant-based proteins offer a sustainable solution for stabilizing multiphase food materials like edible foams and emulsions. However, challenges in understanding and engineering plant protein-stabilized interfaces persist, mostly because of the commonly poorer functionality and complex composition of the respective protein isolates. In the vegetation root zone, infiltration () parts in two directions with distinct Earth-system functions. One goes up as evapotranspiration ( + ), returning to the atmosphere (short-circuiting) and affecting short-term weather/climate and the carbon cycle. The analysis of gold, which is a precious metal with limited resources, in environmental samples is crucial for the sustainable utilization of natural resources. Therefore, in the present research we have aimed to develop a novel and environmentally friendly bioadsorbent, loaded on silica gel (BB@Si), with outstanding adsorptive properties that can be implemented for quantitative recovery of Au(III) ions the solid phase extraction (SPE) technique. After characterizing the developed adsorbent using FTIR and SEM techniques, we conducted a detailed investigation of the critical parameters that influence the extraction performance of Au(III) ions.
