In the immediate aftermath of severe cervical SCI, most patients present with complete loss of functional capacity of the hand. For some of these patients, it is possible during treatment to restore a certain measure of functional capacity in the hand for daily life activities. In the clinical material we analyzed, however, which included 260 patients recovering from such injuries, 45% of those examined presented with no functional abilities in the hand.
Hand function in patients with tetraplegia is vitally important, since this is a decisive factor in determining the degree of the patient's disability and dependence on others. Accordingly, every effort should be made to improve or restore at least the simplest hand functions in tetraplegics.
This report briefly discusses the methods used to improve functioning of the paretic hand (surgery, orthoses), and also the efforts made to restore some measure of function in the paralyzed hand by the use of an autogenic graft of musculocutaneus nerve into median nerve, and also by the application of functional electric stimulation (FES) using electrodes implanted into median and radial nerves.

Aim: To identify developmental trajectories of impaired hand function in infants aged 3 to 15 months with unilateral cerebral palsy (CP).
Method: Sixty-three infants (37 male; median gestational age 37 weeks [interquartile range 30-39.1 weeks]) recruited as part of a randomized trial with a confirmed diagnosis of unilateral CP were included.

Background: Because of its biocompatibility and its soft and dynamic nature, the grafting of adipose tissue is regarded an ideal technique for soft-tissue repair. The adipose stem cells (ASCs) contribute significantly to the regenerative potential of adipose tissue, because they can differentiate into adipocytes and release growth factors for tissue repair and neovascularization to facilitate tissue survival. The present study tested the effect of administering a chronic low dose of ∆-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) on these regenerative properties, in vitro and in vivo.

Background: Clavicle fractures associated with ipsilateral coracoid process fractures are very rare, with limited literature reporting only a few cases. This study reports on 27 patients with ipsilateral concomitant fractures of the clavicle and coracoid process who were followed for more than 12 months.
Material And Methods: This retrospective study reviewed the charts of skeletally mature patients with traumatic ipsilateral clavicle and coracoid process fractures treated at the authors' institution.

Post-weaning diarrhea (PWD) is a major concern for pig producers, as stress and early weaning increase susceptibility to enteropathogens like enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli (ETEC) and Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serovar Typhimurium (S. Typhimurium).

The Spatial-Numerical Association of Response Codes (SNARC) effect refers to the phenomenon of faster left-hand responses to smaller numbers and faster right-hand responses to larger ones. The current study examined the possible long-lasting effects of magnitude-relevant stimulus-response compatibility (SRC) practices on the SNARC effect in a transfer paradigm. Participants performed a magnitude classification task including either SNARC-compatible or SNARC-incompatible trials as practice.
