Under insufficient vitamin content in a diet of laying hens in compliance with lowered vitamins A, E and carotenoids content in an egg yolk acid- and water-soluble chitosan feeding (10 and 20 mg per 1 kg body mass) within 6-9 months did not render appreciable influence on these vitamins egg content. Long-term inclusion of a sorbent in a forage was not reflected in vitamin B2 level in a whole egg, blood serum and tissues of hens. Chitosan intake didn't lead to total lipids and phospholipids concentration in a whole egg. Under 15 per cent decrease of the sum of polyunsaturated fat acids its administration lead to 24 per cent increase of omega-3 polyunsaturated fat acids in the whole egg.

Despite the promise of a reduced environmental impact, bioplastics are subjected to dispersion and accumulation similarly to traditional plastics, especially in marine and coastal environments. The environmental impact of bioplastics is attracting increasing attention due to the growing market demand. The ability of the supralittoral amphipod Talitrus saltator to ingest and survive on pristine starch-based bioplastic has already been assessed.

To enhance the RNAi efficiency of dsRNA against the Spodoptera exigua through a feeding method, we developed a pH-responsive nanoparticle, chitosan-polyethylene glycol-carboxyl (CS-PEG-COOH). This nanoparticle enhances RNAi efficiency by improving dsRNA stability in the midgut of S. exigua and can intelligently release dsRNA under alkaline conditions.

is a highly destructive pest of stored grains worldwide. To develop novel RNA insecticides, the double-stranded RNA of cytochrome c oxidase (dss: dsI, dsII, and dsIII) was successfully expressed in the pET28a-BL21(DE3)-RNaseIII system and remarkably downregulated the expression level of s in through injection or feeding methods, leading to high mortalities in both larvae and adults. Under their optimal expression conditions (isopropyl β-d-thiogalactoside, 0.

The broader use of botanical pesticides has been limited by shorter residual activity on plants, slower onset of action, and higher costs compared with conventional pesticides. These challenges could be overcome by the development of simple, cost-effective, and long-lasting preventive nanocomposites for botanical pesticides. In this study, we successfully developed a low-cost ethyl cellulose (EC)-based delivery system for the botanical pesticide osthole (OST), designed to provide extended preventive protection against infestations.

Double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) mediated RNA interference (RNAi) is a tool in functional gene study and pest control. However, RNAi efficiency in Lepidoptera is low compared to the RNAi sensitive Coleoptera. Previous studies on RNAi in the silkworm Bombyx mori, the lepidopteran model insect, were performed by injection only.
