The adsorption behavior of two amino acids, i.e., l,d-threonine and l,d-methionine has been investigated on the chiral stationary phase (CSP)column packed with teicoplanin bonded to a silica support. The study has been performed under non-linear conditions of adsorption isotherm for various types of organic modifiers (methanol, ethanol, propan-2-ol and acetonitrile) in the reversed-phase mode. A heterogeneous adsorption mechanism of amino acids has been identified that was strongly affected by the nature of organic modifier. Generally, isotherm non-linearity and retention decreased with decrease of the modifier content in the mobile phase exhibiting a minimum at water-rich mobile phases. These trends were suggested to result from a combined effect of the mobile as well as the adsorbed phase composition. To determine the composition of the adsorbed phase the excess adsorption of modifiers in aqueous solutions has been measured and their binary adsorption equilibria have been quantified and compared. Strongly non-ideal behavior of solvents in the mobile phase and the adsorbed phase has been accounted for by activity coefficients. The fraction of the modifiers in the adsorbed phase decreased in the sequence: methanol, ethanol, propan-2-ol and acetonitrile.

Developing an efficient and economical indoor air purification system for catalytic decomposition of formaldehyde is of great significance. In this work, an indoor air conditioner capable of purifying formaldehyde was designed by directly integrating defective WO/TiO nanotube catalytic fin, with both thermal conductivity and gas-phase photoelectrocatalytic (GPEC) properties, onto the condenser component. The electrochemical treatment of the catalytic fin introduced a substantial number of oxygen vacancies, resulting in a significant increase in carrier concentration and mobility to the semi-metallic level.

Sulfonamide antibiotics have a broad spectrum of antibacterial action and are widely used, but their overuse poses a threat to human health. In this study, a three-dimensional conjugated microporous polymer, which was designated as TPM-CMP, was synthesized via Friedel-Crafts reaction by using tetraphenylmethane (TPM) and biphenyl dichlorobenzene as monomers, and it was utilized as an adsorbent in solid-phase extraction (SPE) of sulfonamides. The TPM-CMP demonstrated high extraction efficiency for sulfonamides due to π-stacking interactions, hydrophobic forces, and pore-filling effects.

Organophosphate pesticides can cause long-term neurological damage to humans. There is an urgent need to develop a more sensitive and efficient method for detecting trace amounts of organophosphorus pesticides in orange juice, particularly in the presence of interfering substances. This study developed a dispersive solid-phase extraction (DSPE) method using amorphous UiO-66 (aUiO-66) as an adsorbent for the detection of four organophosphate pesticides (fenthion, profenofos, fensulfothion, and chlorpyrifos) in orange juice.

A novel magnetic mesoporous fluorinated metal-organic framework material (FeO@MIP-206-F) has been synthesized specifically for application as an adsorbent for perfluoroalkyl carboxylic acids (PFCAs) extraction by magnetic solid-phase extraction (MSPE). The carefully designed FeO@MIP-206-F material features an appropriate porosity, open metal sites of Zr, and functional groups (fluorine and amino) conducive to the adsorption process. The distinctive architecture of the material endows it with exceptional extraction capabilities for PFCAs.

This work presents a novel hydrothermally aided sol-gel method for preparation of mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSNs) with a narrow particle size distribution and varied pore sizes. The method was carried out in alkaline media in presence of polyethylene glycol (PEG) and cetyltrimethylammonium chloride (CTAC) as dual templates and permitted the synthesis of spherical mesoporous silica with a high surface area (1011.42 m/g).
