Objectives: To investigate the association between matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)-1(-1607 1G/2G), MMP-3(-1171 5A/6A), and MMP-9(-1562 C/T) polymorphism and susceptibility to idiopathic dilated cardiomyopathy (IDCM).
Design And Methods: MMP-1, -3, -9 genotypes were determined by PCR-RFLP analysis.
Results: Genotype frequency of MMP-3, but not MMP-1 and MMP-9 in IDCM patients, was significantly different from that in healthy controls.
Conclusions: Our data suggested that MMP-3 5A/6A polymorphism could be a risk factor for the susceptibility to IDCM.

Idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH) is marked by increased intracranial pressure without any accompanying evidence of clinical, imaging or laboratory findings of intracranial pathology. In addition to headache, nausea and vomiting, typical symptoms might also include diplopia, photophobia and blurred vision. Third nerve palsy is rarely linked to IIH, although sixth nerve palsy is reported in the majority of individuals with IIH.

Idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus (iNPH) is frequently difficult to diagnose due to the absence of specific symptoms, yet early detection and surgical intervention are essential for preventing sequela such as irreversible dementia. This study explores the specific magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) features of the brainstem and mesencephalic aqueduct in patients with iNPH. Head MRI data of 50 iNPH patients and 30 healthy matched controls were compared for mesencephalic aqueduct length, diameter, and angle, structural features of the brainstem at the sagittal plane, brainstem component volume ratios, angle between the brainstem and spinal cord, and the area and morphology of the pontine cisterns.

Aim: to assess the relation of focal and diffuse left ventricular (LV) fibrosis to left bundle branch block (LBBB).
Materials And Methods: 60 patients with dilated cardiomyopathy and LBBB (DCM-LBBB), 50 DCM-nonLBBB patients, 15 patients with LBBB and structurally normal heart (idiopathic LBBB) and 10 healthy volunteers (HV) underwent cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) with late gadolinium enhancement (LGE). LGE LV images were post-proceed for core scar (CS) and gray zone (GZ) calculation.
