Crystal structures of the L3MBTL1 MBT repeats in complex with histone H4 peptides dimethylated on Lys20 (H4K20me2) show that only the second of the three MBT repeats can bind mono- and dimethylated histone peptides. Its binding pocket has similarities to that of 53BP1 and is able to recognize the degree of histone lysine methylation. An unexpected mode of peptide-mediated dimerization suggests a possible mechanism for chromatin compaction by L3MBTL1.

Studying the mechanisms and effects of rejuvenators on SBS-modified bitumen is crucial for repairing degraded SBS and recycling aged SBS-modified bitumen (ASMB), thereby contributing to the sustainable development of bitumen pavements. This research examines the roles of mono-epoxy Alkyl (C12-C14) glycidyl ether (AGE) and di-epoxy 1,6-Hexanediol diglycidyl ether (HDE) under the catalysis of N,N-dimethyl benzyl amine (BDMA) in repairing degraded SBS chains. Aromatic oil (ORSMB)-, AGE-aromatic oil (ARSMB)-, and HDE-aromatic oil (HRSMB)-rejuvenated bitumen are analyzed for their chemical structures, physical properties, and rheological properties.

Dimethyl ether (DME) is a versatile molecule, gaining increasing interest as a viable hydrogen and energy storage solution, pivotal for the transitioning from fossil fuels to environmentally friendly and sustainable energy supply. This research explores a novel approach for the direct conversion of CO to DME in a fixed-bed reactor, combining the Cu/ZnO/AlO methanol synthesis catalyst with supported heteropolyacids (HPAs). First, various HPAs, both commercially available and custom-synthesized, were immobilized on Montmorillonite K10.

Lysine-specific histone demethylase 1 (LSD1) is a histone demethylase that plays a critical role in epigenetic regulation by removing the methyl group from mono- and di-methylated lysine 4 on histone H3 (H3K4me1/2), acting as a repressor of gene expression. Recently, catalytically independent functions of LSD1, serving as a scaffold for assembling chromatin-regulator and transcription factor complexes, have been identified. Herein, we show for the first time that LSD1 interacts with chromodomain-helicase-DNA-binding protein 7 (CHD7) in mouse embryonic stem cells (ESCs).

Hair analysis for drugs has become extensively used for forensic investigation in recent years. To best interpret hair drug content in post-mortem conditions, the extent of external contamination by biological fluids, such as blood, must be taken into account to avoid false positive results. The present study evaluated opiates and opioids incorporation into hair from blood containing different concentrations of morphine (MOR), 6-mono-acetyl morphine (6-AM), codeine (COD), dihydrocodeine (DHC), tramadol (TRA), oxycodone (OXY), methadone (MET), 2-ethylidene-1,5-dimethyl-3,3- diphenyl pyrrolidine (EDDP), buprenorphine (BUP) and norbuprenorphine (NBUP).
