Sodium tetradecyl sulfate is a sclerosing agent that has been widely used to treat varicose veins of the legs and digestive tract. Despite the multitude of side-effects of sclerotherapy procedures and sclerosing-drug administration, the medical literature reports only on a few cases of life-threatening hypersensitivity reactions resulting from sodium tetradecyl sulfate therapy. A case is reported of a 49-year-old woman who developed anaphylactoid reaction after the administration of the Fibro-vein for varicose veins in the legs. Attention is drawn to this adverse event and underlines the necessity for potential hypersensitivity assessment before the drug application.

Vascular malformations (VMs) are congenital abnormalities of blood or lymphatic vessels, present at birth and growing proportionally with the individual. They are classified into types such as capillary, venous, lymphatic, and arteriovenous malformation (AVMs). Symptoms include discoloration, swelling, pain, or functional impairment, depending on the type and location.

The oxidation kinetics of phenylalanine (Phe) by Ce(IV) have been examined in both the absence and presence of aqueous micellar media with asymmetric tails, specifically using sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) and sodium tetradecyl sulfate (STS) surfactants. The reaction progress was monitored by observing a decrease in absorbance using UV-vis spectroscopy. Interestingly, the kinetic profile revealed a consistent increase in the observed rate constant values as the concentration of the surfactant increased.

Diclofenac is an emerging contaminant widely detected in water and has had adverse effects on the biota. In this study, the adsorbents were prepared by reacting tetradecyl-(C), hexadecyl-(C), and octadecyltrimethylammonium (C) bromides with sodium vermiculite (Na-Ver) and used for the removal of the first time for diclofenac sodium from aqueous solution. Synthesis was carried out in a microwave-assisted reactor operating at 50 °C for 5 min, using proportions of organic salts in 100 and 200% of the phyllosilicate cation exchange capacity.

Background: Hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia (HHT) is characterized by abnormal blood vessel formation. One treatment for HHT-related arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) is sclerotherapy, which collapses the blood vessels by irritating the endothelial lining.
Methods: This case series describes two HHT patients undergoing in-office sodium tetradecyl sulfate sclerotherapy for non-nasal telangiectasias and AVMs.

Purpose: To propose a standardized method of subjectively and objectively evaluating outcomes of sclerotherapy in treating low flow vascular malformations.
Materials And Methods: Sixty-six patients with low flow vascular malformations (venous, lymphatic, or combined) were treated with percutaneous sclerotherapy using bleomycin, doxycycline, or sodium tetradecyl sulphate. Each lesion required between 2-5 sessions of sclerotherapy with 8-week intervals in between.
