The Effect of Toolbox Trainings on Nursing Sensitive Quality Indicators: A Randomized Controlled Trial.

J Nurs Scholarsh

January 2025

Department of Nursing Management, Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing, Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa, İstanbul, Türkiye.

Introduction: Toolbox training or toolbox talks is short-term training to improve occupational health and safety practices in various sectors. These on-the-job trainings provide employees with opportunities to ask questions and share experiences, facilitating the enhancement of workplace safety practices. The aim of this study is to determine the impact of toolbox trainings provided to nurses on nursing-sensitive quality indicators (pain management, pressure ulcer, patient falls, peripheral venous catheter complications, and adverse event reporting) in the workplace.

Self-sustaining mechanical energy harvesting devices are pivotal for developing durable energy-efficient systems, providing scalable and adaptable solutions to wearable technology. Triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs) efficaciously convert ambient mechanical energy into usable electrical power to sustainably drive modern electronics. Surface and structural engineering is an avenue to boost TENGs' energy harvesting through modulating contact interfaces and charge transfer interactions between the constituent layers.

Chemistry as a Catalyst for Transforming the Health and Wealth of South Africa.

Angew Chem Int Ed Engl

January 2025

Department of Chemistry, University of Cape Town, Rondebosch, Cape Town, 7701, South Africa.

South Africa's rich natural resources remain a key driver of its chemical industrialisation but are tainted and constrained by its complex colonial history. Thirty years since the advent of democracy in South Africa, deep sociopolitical inequalities are amplified by an intolerable infectious disease burden amongst disadvantaged communities. In that respect, South Africa shares challenges with many other nations in the Global South; there are limited opportunities for the economic development and growth needed to uplift all strata of society.

Evaluating low NO hydrogen engines designed for off-road and construction applications.

Environ Sci Process Impacts

January 2025

Wolfson Atmospheric Chemistry Laboratories, University of York, Heslington, York, YO10 5DD, UK.

Hydrogen internal combustion engines offer a near-term decarbonisation pathway for hard to electrify sectors such as non-road mobile machinery (NRMM). However, few hydrogen-specific engines have ever been developed with the twin-goals of maximising low carbon energy efficiency and delivering air quality co-benefits. We present analyses of dynamometer-derived nitrogen oxides (NO) tailpipe emissions from four variants of a ∼55 kW four-cylinder port fuelled injection spark ignition hydrogen internal combustion engine (H2ICE) suitable for a range of uses within the NRMM industry.
