Retinopathy, nephropathy, and neuropathy are the main manifestations of diabetic microangiopathy. The medical and economical burden of these complications is prominent because of the severe functional outcomes: dialysis, blindness, and amputations. These complications appear after a mean 5-year exposition to hyperglycaemia. They can be detected by very simple means. The health's stake is important because early treatment of these complications is efficient through the strict control of the hyperglycaemia/hypertension duo.
