Tetanus is a rare but life-threatening neurological disorder caused by neurotoxins produced by . Although mortality rates have significantly decreased with modern intensive care, severe cases remain challenging due to prolonged Intensive Care Unit (ICU) stays, complications, and rehabilitation barriers. We report the case of an 81-year-old male with a history of hypertension and femoral neck fracture who developed severe tetanus following a contaminated forehead laceration.

Hepatic gas gangrene (HGG) is a rare but life-threatening condition typically caused by anaerobic bacteria such as Clostridium perfringens, though Gram-negative bacteria like Escherichia coli and Klebsiella species have also been implicated. Traditionally diagnosed via computed tomography (CT), point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) has emerged as a valuable tool in critical care settings for its non-invasive, bedside utility. We report the case of a 51-year-old female with choledochal syndrome secondary to cholangiocarcinoma who developed HGG following left extended hepatectomy and biliary reconstruction.

Coccidiosis and necrotic enteritis are among the most common diseases affecting poultry, with economic impact due to reduced production and the costs of treatment and prevention. Eimeria invasion contributes to gut damage that promotes the growth of other harmful pathogens, such as . Coccidiostats, with toltrazuril as an example, are widely used to control these infections.

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic immune-mediated neurological disorder, characterized by progressive demyelination and neuronal cell loss in the central nervous system. Many possible causes of MS have been proposed, including genetic factors, environmental triggers, and infectious agents. Recently, epsilon toxin (ETX) has been incriminated in MS, based initially on the isolation of the bacteria from a MS patient, combined with an immunoreactivity to ETX.

Dysbiosis may hinder effective tumor immunity and reduce the efficacy of therapies such as immune checkpoint blockade (ICB) in renal cell carcinoma (RCC). CBM588, a product containing live Clostridium butyricum, has shown promise in enhancing ICB effectiveness in metastatic RCC in terms of response rates and progression-free survival. Further research to confirm these findings should take factors such as diet and microbiome composition into account and include predictive biomarkers for patient selection.
