This paper describes a fast procedure for the calibration of an ultrasound (US) probe using a 3D optical localizer. This calibration step allows us to obtain the 3D position of any point located on the 2D ultrasonic (US) image. To carry out correctly this procedure, a phantom of known geometric properties is probed and these geometries are found in the US images. A segmentation step is applied in order to obtain automatically the needed information in the US images and then, an optimization approach is performed to find the optimal calibration parameters. A new optimization method to estimate the calibration parameters for an ultrasound (US) probe is developed.

Objective: This study aimed to validate the ultrasound speckle tracking (UST) algorithm, determine the optimal probe location by comparing normalized cross-correlation (NCC) values of muscle displacement at two locations (proximal vs. middle) of the biceps femoris long head (BFlh) using the UST, and investigate the effects of Nordic hamstring curl exercise (NHE) training on BFlh displacement.
Methods: UST efficacy was verified with ex vivo uniaxial testing of porcine leg muscles.

Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)-guided radiofrequency ablation (RFA) is a promising minimally invasive technique for the treatment of pancreatic lesions. This review first focuses on the technical aspects in EUS-RFA: the procedure typically employs EUS probes with integrated radiofrequency electrodes, enabling accurate targeting and ablation of pancreatic lesions. Different types of RFA devices, monopolar and bipolar energy delivery systems, are discussed, along with considerations for optimal ablation, including energy settings, procedure time, and pre- and post-procedural management.

: Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease (ADPKD) is mainly characterized by renal involvement with progressive bilateral development of renal cysts and volumetric increase in the kidneys, causing a loss of renal function, chronic kidney disease (CKD), and kidney failure. The occurrence of mosaicism may modulate the clinical course of the disease. Mosaicism is characterized by a few cell populations with different genomes.

Reptile biodiversity is rapidly declining, with over 11,733 recognized species across 1226 genera being documented, many of which are endangered. Captive breeding programs play a crucial role in conservation; however, effective management requires accurate sex determination, especially due to the fact that many reptile species exhibit minimal or no sexual dimorphism. When present, sexual dimorphism manifests as differences such as size, coloration, and morphological features influenced by evolutionary pressures and hormones.

Objective: To clarify the role of concentrated growth factors (CGF) in the treatment of periodontal cement defects using calcium phosphate cement (CPC) with self-curing properties.
Methods: Thirty-six intrabony defects were randomly divided into two groups. The experimental group received CGF+CPC treatment (=18), while the control group received CPC treatment alone (=18).
