The controlled hydrolysis of potassium 2-tert-butylphenoxide or 2-isopropylphenoxide leads to the unexpected encapsulation of the water inside K6O6 hexameric drum aggregates. Encapsulation of the neutral molecules is enabled in these instances through the formation of strong hydrogen bonds and dative interactions between the host and guest.

The ternary transition-metal cyanamide MnCr(NCN) was synthesized by a solid-state metathesis reaction between MnCl, CrCl, and ZnNCN. Powder X-ray diffraction reveals that MnCr(NCN) adopts an orthorhombic [NiAs]-derived structure with symmetry, featuring a hexagonally close-packed array of NCN with metal cations in 3/4 of the octahedral interstitial holes. The question of cation order was addressed via the combinatorial use of X-ray powder diffraction, neutron powder diffraction, electron diffraction, and HAADF-STEM measurements.

Methane (CH), which is the main component of natural gas, is an abundant and widely available carbon resource. However, CH has a low energy density of only 36 kJ L under ambient conditions, which is significantly lower than that of gasoline (. 34 MJ L).

Despite extensive research on the use of salts to enhance micellar growth, numerous questions remain regarding the impact of ionic exchange and molecular structure on charge neutralization. This study looks into how certain cations (Na, Ca, and Mg) affect the structure of a cocamidopropyl betaine CAPB and sodium dodecylbenzenesulfonate SDBS surfactant mixture, aiming toward applications in targeted delivery systems. The mixture consists of a zwitterionic surfactant, cocamidopropyl betaine (CAPB), and an anionic surfactant, sodium dodecylbenzenesulfonate (SDBS), combined in varying molar ratios at a total concentration of 200 mM.

The concept of inert matrix fuel (IMF) has been proposed to utilize the energetic value of Pu and transmute minor actinides in nuclear reactors. In order to offset the initial reactivity of nuclear fuel, gadolinium (Gd) is employed as a burnable poison, owing to its high neutron absorption cross-section. To gain insights into the radiation stability and influence of grain boundaries on irradiation behaviour, 5 mol% Gd-doped ceria samples, sintered at varying temperatures, were subjected to irradiation using 400 Kr ions.

This research investigates the potential of utilizing types of construction waste as partial cement replacements within concrete formulations. Notably, granodiorite and ceramic powders were introduced at varying substitution ratios. The impact of these waste materials on the compressive strength and radiation shielding effectiveness of traditional concrete was evaluated under both ambient and elevated temperature conditions.
