Early debridement and early skin grafting are the "Gold standard" in the surgical treatment of burns. There are different debridement methods available. Concerning the treatment of burns, surgical-sharp debridement, laser ablation and hydrosurgery system are used. While in full thickness burns the sharp debridement is advisable, the Versajet shows its benefits in the treatment of partial thickness burns. Especially for debridement of difficult to treat areas - face, neck, lips, fingers, interdigital spaces, convex and concave areas the Versajet System shows its benefits. With the Versajet System, tissue excision is precise; moreover it helps to avoid the damage of viable tissue and its vascular supply.

Pressure ulcers (PUs), also known as pressure injuries, are chronic wounds that represent potential lifelong complications. Pressure ulcers of a deep category (III and IV) are often indicated for surgical treatment - debridement and surgical reconstruction. Sharp surgical debridement is widely used in the debridement of PUs; however, the Versajet® hydrosurgery system is becoming an increasingly popular tool for tangential excision in surgery due to its numerous advantages.

Introduction: Patients with extremely severe burns often require rapid wound closure with a tangential excision or escharectomy combined with a skin graft to reduce life-threatening complications such as infection. Traditional tangential excision surgery using the Watson or Humby knife does not allow accurate excision of necrotic tissue and often removes too much active tissue, which is detrimental to the rapid healing of the wound. Importantly, the Versajet hydrosurgical system, with its smaller handle, allows for more precise excision of necrotic burn tissue and preserves more active dermal tissue, positively affecting wound healing and scarring.

Treatment of axillary contracture after extensive deep burns is a serious clinical challenge. Various surgical intervention for releasing contracture using skin grafts, flaps and artificial skin have been used, but no consensus on the optimal treatment has been obtained. A standardized two-stage debridement strategy using an electric dermatome (for eschar) and the Versajet™ hydrosurgery system (for slough) can be an appropriate debridement strategy that provides reliable wound bed preparation in cases of for axillary deep burns.
