A method based on matrix solid-phase dispersion (MSPD) and gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS) to determine dimethyl phthalate (DMP), diethyl phthalate (DEP), di-n-butyl phthalate (DBP), butylbenzyl phthalate (BBP) and di-2-ethylhexyl phthalate (DEHP) in vegetables was developed. The method, which required Florisil as solid dispersion sorbent, graphitized carbon black as purificant and ethyl acetate as eluting solvent, is simple, fast and suitable for the preparation of a large number of samples. The results showed that linearity of response over the five phthalic acid esters was good from 0.05 to 10.00 mg/kg. The recoveries of spiked samples ranging from 76% to 90% and the relative standard deviations ranging from 2% to 7% were obtained. The limits of detection for the method were from 0.01 to 0.024 mg/kg.

In August 2019, Brazil experienced its largest large oil spill, which impacted extensive areas and significantly affected the northeastern region, particularly Pernambuco. Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), major oil components, are critical for assessing fish contamination risks. This study presents two sample pretreatment methods for fish samples - ultrasound-enhanced air-assisted liquid-liquid microextraction (UE-AA-LLME) for low molar mass PAHs, and matrix solid-phase dispersion for high molar mass PAHs - followed by a Gas-Chromatography coupled to Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) detection.

During deepwater drilling, the low mudline temperatures and narrow safe density window pose serious challenges to the safe and efficient performance of deepwater water-based drilling fluids. Low temperatures can lead to physical and chemical changes in the components of water-based drilling fluids and the behavior of low temperature gelation. As a coarse dispersion system, water-based drilling fluid has a complex composition of dispersed phase and dispersing medium.

17-Estradiol (E2) is a natural steroidal estrogen essential for a variety of physiological functions in organisms. However, external E2, which is renowned for its potent biological effects, is also considered to be an endocrine-disrupting compound (EDC) capable of disturbing the normal operation of the endocrine system, even at nanogram-per-liter (ng/L) concentrations. Studies have revealed that medical and livestock wastewater can be contaminated with E2, which poses potential risks to human health.

The concentration of chlorpyrifos (CPF) in aqueous samples was determined using a novel molecularly imprinted dispersive solid-phase extraction (MISPE) approach that was presented in this research. Using a non-covalent molecular imprinting technique, a biochar (BC)-functionalized molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) (BC-MIPs) was created. These MIPs were used in dispersive solid-phase extraction (DSPE) in conjunction with high-performance liquid chromatography with photodiode array detection (HPLC-PDA) to detect CPF in aqueous samples with high sensitivity.
