Anisotropically Epitaxial P-N Heterostructures Actuating Efficient Z-Scheme Photocatalytic Water Splitting.

Small

January 2025

Key Laboratory of Eco-chemical Engineering, International S&T Cooperation Foundation of Eco-chemical Engineering and Green Manufacture, College of Chemistry and Molecular Engineering, Qingdao University of Science and Technology, Qingdao, 266042, P. R. China.

Crafting anisotropically epitaxial p-n heterostructures with Z-scheme charge transmission is a promising avenue toward excellent photocatalytic efficiency, yet the large lattice mismatch and diverse crystal growth habits between components have often arisen as a big challenge to this goal. Here, anisotropically epitaxial p-n heterostructures with 19.8% lattice mismatch are obtained via a dynamics-mediated seeded growth tactic under reaction temperature as low as 60 °C.

Introduction: Early lung cancer screening (LCS) through low-dose CT (LDCT) is crucial but underused due to various barriers, including incomplete or inaccurate patient smoking data in the electronic health record and limited time for shared decision-making. The objective of this trial is to investigate a patient-centred intervention, MyLungHealth, delivered through the patient portal. The intervention is designed to improve LCS rates through increased identification of eligible patients and informed decision-making.

Objectives: Intensive care unit (ICU) clinicians stop antibiotics more often, with a negative infection: point-of-care test (PCR-POCT). Simulated cases of diagnostic uncertainty regarding infection resolution led clinicians to choose options such as procalcitonin (PCT) and/or PCR-POCTs +/- de-escalation to aid stop decisions. We hypothesised that a direct infection indicator, PCR-POCT, would influence stop judgements more than indirect PCT.

Background: Case-Based Learning (CBL) and Problem-Based Learning (PBL) are popular methods in medical education. However, we do not fully understand how they affect the clinical thinking skills of Assistant General Practitioner (AGP) trainees. This randomised controlled trial aimed to assess the effectiveness of combining CBL and PBL and compare their impact on the clinical thinking skills of AGP trainees with that of traditional lecture-based learning (LBL).

New evidence finds young people in Mainland China are now bicultural.

Br J Psychol

January 2025

School of Psychology & Institute of Moral Education Research, Nanjing Normal University, Nanjing, China.

This study reports new evidence that young people in Mainland China are now bicultural. We followed the established method of testing biculturalism by priming participants with images from two different cultures and measuring whether those images activate different thought styles. First, we replicated findings from 25 years ago that college students in Hong Kong are bicultural (Study 1).
