Cystic tumours of the spleen are generally rare, and a parasitic origin is relatively unlikely. The present case report shows, however that when a splenic cyst is found, the differential diagnosis must always consider the possibility of echinococcosis. We report the case of a patient suffering from a cystic lesion of the spleen where surgery and histopathology yielded the diagnosis of splenic echinococcosis. Abdominal pain in the left upper quadrant and splenomegaly detected by simple abdominal radiology are the most commonly found indicators for this disease. The treatment should be surgical, attempting to preserve as much splenic tissue as possible, although conservative treatment is frequently unfeasable due to massive involvement of the spleen. Although rare, splenic hydatidosis should be included in the differential diagnosis when a cystic splenic lesion is identified with sonography or CT scan.

Background: Poikiloderma with neutropenia is a rare genetic disorder primarily characterized by the presence of poikiloderma and congenital chronic neutropenia. Mutations in the C16orf57 gene, which encodes the USB1 protein, are implicated as the underlying cause of poikiloderma with neutropenia.
Case Presentation: Our patient, an 11-year-old Syrian male child who presented with poikiloderma, palmoplantar keratoderma, pachyonychia, recurrent infections, and neutropenia, is considered to be the first documented case in Syria.

Background: Aleutian mink disease, mink viral enteritis and canine distemper are known as the three most serious diseases that cause great economic loss in the mink industry. In clinical practice, aleutian mink disease virus (AMDV), mink enteritis virus (MEV) and canine distemper virus (CDV) are common mixed infections, and they have similar clinical clinical signs, such as diarrhoea. Therefore, a rapid and accurate differential diagnosis method for use on mink ranches is essential for the control of these three pathogens.

Background: Alopecia areata (AA) is a common non-scarring hair loss disorder associated with autoimmune conditions. However, the pathobiology of AA is not well understood, and there is no targeted therapy available for AA. METHODS: In this study, differential gene expression analysis, immune status assessment, weighted correlation network analysis (WGCNA), and functional enrichment analysis were performed to identify shared genes associated with both immunological response and AA.

The conventional statistical approach for analyzing resting state functional MRI (rs-fMRI) data struggles to accurately distinguish between patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) and those with neuromyelitis optic spectrum disorders (NMOSD), highlighting the need for improved diagnostic efficacy. In this study, multilevel functional metrics including resting state functional connectivity, amplitude of low frequency fluctuation (ALFF), and regional homogeneity (ReHo) were calculated and extracted from 116 regions of interest in the anatomical automatic labeling atlas. Subsequently, classifiers were developed using different combinations of these selected features to distinguish between MS and NMOSD.

Community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) has a significant impact on public health, especially in light of the recent SARS-CoV-2 pandemic. To enhance disease characterization and improve understanding of the underlying mechanisms, a comprehensive analysis of the plasma lipidome, metabolome and proteome was conducted in patients with viral and bacterial CAP infections, including those induced by SARS-CoV-2. Lipidomic, metabolomic and proteomic profiling were conducted on plasma samples of 69 patients suffering either from viral or bacterial CAP.
