Objective: To analyze how patients suffering from schizophrenia perceive faces of unknown individuals that show no actual emotions in order to investigate the attribution of meanings to a relatively non-significant but complex sensory experience.
Design: Analysis of baseline and poststimulation magneto-encephalographic recordings. The stimuli consisted of four pictures with neutral emotional expression of male and female faces of Spanish individuals unknown to research subjects.
Participants: Twelve right-handed patients suffering from schizophrenia (DSM IV-TR criteria), age 18-65, with active delusional activity (SAPS score in delusions above 39) and 15 right-handed sex- and age-matched control subjects.
Results: Compared to controls patients have a significant higher activity of both hemispheres (0-700 ms) being the activity in the right hemisphere (RH) higher than in the left hemisphere (LH). Patients also have a higher activity on the middle fusiform gyrus (BA 37) in the LH (200-300 ms), on the superior temporal areas (BA 22, 41 and 42) in both hemispheres (100-700 ms) and on the temporal pole (BA 38) in the RH (300-400 ms) and a lower activity in the LH of the latter.
Conclusions: The areas that are more activated in our study are those involved in the process of thinking, in attributing meanings to perceptions and in activities such as theory of mind, which are essential for social interaction. The anterior temporal areas less activated indicate a reduced semantic memory for faces that could explain the social withdrawal of schizophrenia. These alterations are suggestive of a dysfunction of left hemisphere neuronal networks.

Objective: Cyclin-dependent kinase (CDK)-4/6 inhibitors have significantly improved outcomes in several cancers but can also induce various organ system toxicities, including musculoskeletal disorders. This study aimed to comprehensively characterize the musculoskeletal adverse events (MSAEs) associated with CDK4/6 inhibitors based on real-world data.
Methods: Reports of MSAEs linked to CDK4/6 inhibitors from the first quarter (Q1) of 2015 and 2023 Q4 were extracted from the FAERS.

Background: Aortic dissection occurs rarely during pregnancy but carries a significantly high vital risk for both the mother and the fetus. Early diagnosis and treatment are critical for a successful outcome.
Case Presentation: A 32-year-old pregnant woman at 31 weeks of gestation began experiencing shortness of breath, chest pain, and palpitations, which were attributed to an anxiety disorder she had been previously diagnosed with.

Background: Pain is a major challenge for patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA), with many people suffering chronic pain. Current RA management guidelines focus on assessing and reducing disease activity using disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (DMARDs). Consequently, pain care is often suboptimal, with growing evidence that analgesics are widely prescribed to patients with RA, despite potential toxicities and limited evidence for efficacy.

Background: vNOTES has been documented as a viable approach for conducting benign gynecologic surgery; however, its application in ectopic pregnancy cases remains relatively scarce. The principal objective of this investigation was to assess the practicability, effectiveness, and safety of vNOTES in surgical procedures related to ectopic pregnancy.
Methods: Clinical data pertaining to patients diagnosed with ectopic pregnancy at Beijing Hospital between January 2018 and August 2023 were retrospectively collected (This study retrospectively registered with the China Clinical Trial Registry with the registration number ChiCTR2100052223 in September 22, 2021.

Background: Despite growing research on the daily life of people with advanced cancer, more specific knowledge is needed about the specific strategies these people use to manage everyday activities.
Purpose: This study explores how people with advanced cancer manage their everyday activities and describe their specific strategies.
Methods: The qualitative study was designed with an explorative approach.
