Selective conversion of inert C-H bonds in alkanes into high-value-added functional groups (alcohols, ketones, carboxylic acids, etc.) plays a vital role in establishing a green and sustainable chemical industry. Catalytic selective oxidation of cyclohexane to KA oil (cyclohexanol and cyclohexanone) is a typical representative of alkane functionalization.

CoNi-LDH (layered CoNi double hydroxides) hollow nanocages with specific morphology are obtained by Ni ion etching of ZIF-67 (Zeolitic imidazolate framework-67). The structure of the layered materials is further modified by molecular intercalation. The original interlayer anions are replaced by the ion exchange effect of terephthalic acid, which helps to increase the interlayer distance of the material.

Owing to the similar valence electron structures between the B-N bond and the C-C bond, boron nitride, similar to carbon, can form abundant polymorphs with different frameworks, which possess rich mechanical and electronic properties. Using the hollow, cage-like BN cluster as building blocks, here, we established three new BN polymorphs with low-density porous structures, termed Cub-BN, Tet-BN, and Ort-BN, which have cubic (P4¯3m), tetragonal (4/), and orthomorphic () symmetries, respectively. Our density functional theory (DFT) calculations indicated that the existence of porous structure Cub-BN, Tet-BN, and Ort-BN were not only energetically, dynamically, thermally and mechanically stable, they were even more stable than some known phases, such as sc-BN and Hp-BN.

Streptomycin (STR) is extensively employed for preventive and curative purposes in animals, which is accumulated in human body through food chain and induces serious health problems. Herein, highly photoactive type II heterojunctions of porous CdInS/SnO microspheres were initially prepared, which can effectively inhibit the recombination of the charge-hole pairs. Besides, the peroxidase-mimicking catalytic property of the hollow PtCu nanocages (PtCu NCs) was carefully investigated by UV-vis spectroscopy, where catalytic oxidation of tetramethylbenzidine behaved as the benchmarked reaction.

Heterojunctions coupled into micro-mesoscopic structures is an attractive strategy to optimize the light harvesting and carrier separation of semiconductor photocatalysts. A self-templating method of ion exchange is reported to synthesize an exquisite hollow cage-structured Ag S@CdS/ZnS that direct Z-scheme heterojunction photocatalyst. On the ultrathin shell of the cage, Ag S, CdS, and ZnS with Zn-vacancies (V ) are arranged sequentially from outside to inside.
