In this study, a bacteriological examination was performed in the specimens of nose, ear and conjunctiva taken from 135 patients aged between 0-6 years old and 335 patients aged more than six years old for the isolation of H. influenzae. Ten H. influenzae strains were isolated, six of them were type b. Seven isolates were from 0-6 years old group (5.2%). All strains were susceptible to chloramphenicol, three strains were resistant to ampicillin with Kirby-Bauer disc diffusion method.

Virus neutralization profiles against primary infection sera and corresponding antigenic cartography are integral part of the COVID-19 and influenza vaccine strain selection processes. Human single variant exposure sera have previously defined the antigenic relationships among SARS-CoV-2 variants but are now largely unavailable due to widespread population immunity. Therefore, antigenic characterization of future SARS-CoV-2 variants will require an animal model, analogous to using ferrets for influenza virus.

Swine influenza virus (SIV) is a highly contagious pathogen that poses significant economic challenges to the swine industry and carries zoonotic potential, underscoring the need for vigilant surveillance. In this study, we performed a comprehensive genetic and molecular analysis of H3N2 SIV isolates obtained from 372 swine samples collected in Shandong Province, China. Phylogenetic analysis revealed two distinct genotypes.

The current situation with H5N1 highly pathogenic avian influenza virus (HPAI) is causing a worldwide concern due to multiple outbreaks in wild birds, poultry, and mammals. Moreover, multiple zoonotic infections in humans have been reported. Importantly, HPAI H5N1 viruses with genetic markers of adaptation to mammals have been detected.
