This study characterizes the evolution of the tumor necrosis factor superfamily (TNFSF) across vertebrate lineages, both cyclostomes and gnathostomes, by combining sequence similarity and synteny data for the genes from 23 model species. The available evidence supports a simple model in which most of the diversity found in living species can be attributed to the expansion of four genes found in an ancestor of all vertebrates before the first of the genome duplications that occurred in the vertebrate lineages. It is inferred that the ancestor of all cyclostomes possessed only six TNFSF genes.

: Granulomatosis with polyangiitis (GPA) represents a rare autoimmune disease with granulomatous inflammation, tissue necrosis, and systemic vasculitis of the small and medium blood vessels. Although the clinical elements vary, aortic involvement is exceptional and it represents a challenge that requires a rapid intervention with the potential of displaying a fulminant evolution. : We report a 64-year-old male with an 18-year history of GPA who presented atypical low back pain.

Objective: To explore the influence of abietic acid on the autophagy and apoptosis of cardiomyocytes in rats with acute myocardial infarction (AMI).
Methods: A rat model of AMI was built by ligation of the anterior descending branch of left coronary artery, and a model of hypoxic cardiomyocyte injury was constructed by treating cardiomyocytes with hypoxia. Western blot assay was used to detect the abundance of proteins related to autophagy and apoptosis, MTT assay was used to measure the viability of cardiomyocytes, and the expression level of miR-30a-5p was detected by qRT-PCR.

Myocardial infarction (MI), a severe cardiovascular disease, is the result of insufficient blood supply to the myocardium. Despite the improvements of conventional therapies, new approaches are needed to improve the outcome post-MI. Imperatorin is a natural compound with multiple pharmacological properties and potential cardioprotective effects.

Behçet's disease (BD) is a chronic, relapsing, systemic vasculitis of unknown etiology that affects blood vessels of all sizes, potentially leading to severe complications such as coronary artery aneurysms. This report describes the case of a 33-year-old woman with BD who presented with recurrent chest pain. Imaging revealed a large saccular aneurysm in the left anterior descending artery.
