Detection and three dimensional reconstruction of cell structures from brightfield microscopy video clips using digital image processing algorithms is presented. While the confocal microscopy offers an efficient technique for three dimensional measurements, extensive and repeated measurements are still often better to be performed using permanent staining and brightfield microscopy. By processing of brightfield microscopy videos using automated and efficient digital image processing algorithms, the tedious task of manual analysis can be avoided. Our two-stage algorithm is applied for 1) cell soma detection and 2) identification of the 3D structure of entire neurons. To verify the results, we present 3D reconstructions of the detected cells.

Introduction: Preterm birth remains a global health challenge with significant perinatal morbidity and mortality rates. Despite extensive research, the underlying mechanisms triggering preterm birth remain elusive, needing a deeper understanding of cervical cellular remodelling processes.
Purpose: This study aims to elucidate the cellular mechanisms underlying cervical remodelling in spontaneous preterm labour (PTL) compared to term labour (TL), focusing on the roles of inflammatory cells and fibroblasts.

Background: A recently released digital solid-state positron emission tomography/x-ray CT (PET/CT) scanner with bismuth germanate (BGO) scintillators provides an artificial intelligence (AI) based system for automatic patient positioning. The efficacy of this digital-BGO system in patient placement at the isocenter and its impact on image quality and radiation exposure was evaluated.
Method: The digital-BGO PET/CT with AI-based auto-positioning was compared (χ, Mann-Whitney tests) to a solid-state lutetium-yttrium oxyorthosilicate (digital-LYSO) PET/CT with manual patient positioning (n = 432 and 343 studies each, respectively), with results split into groups before and after the date of a recalibration of the digital-BGO auto-positioning camera.

Background: Venous congestion due to superficial venous system dominance (SVD) in deep inferior epigastric perforator (DIEP) flap surgery occurs in approximately 2% of cases, with attendant sequelae and increased cost to healthcare systems. This study aimed to describe the predictive factors for SVD in DIEP flap breast reconstruction based on preoperative computed tomography angiography (CTA) findings.
Methods: All women who required takebacks for additional venous anastomosis to the cephalic vein because of SVD after DIEP flap breast reconstruction between 2015 and 2022 were included.
The Study Aims: To evaluate and compare the growth of gingiva around dental implants following the use of collagen matrices and connective tissue grafts (CTG).
Materials And Methods: The study included 80 study participants, who were divided into four groups based on the type of material used to enhance gingival thickness. Two groups utilized collagen matrices, Fibro-Gide and FibroMatrix as materials, while the other two groups utilized CTG obtained from the hard palate or tubercle area of the maxilla as controls.

Ischemic stroke (IS), a cerebrovascular condition, is commonly detected by evaluating carotid intima-media (CIA) stenosis. Symptomatic CIA stenosis carries a high risk (up to 32%) of another ischemic event within 12 weeks, while asymptomatic CIA stenosis has an annual risk ranging from 1% to 2%. Therefore, this study aims to explore the diagnostic value of clinical features and carotid plaque characteristics in both symptomatic and asymptomatic IS.
