We propose a novel method for contrast enhancement in hypoechoic lesions. Our approach is based on the concept of distance on image manifolds to obtain a credibility function which captures the delineation of the lesion; if the lesion is sharply defined, the credibility function will also give a sharp response, whereas it varies smoothly at locations where no reliable information about the lesion's perimeter exists due to shortcomings of image acquisition, or because the lesion's border itself is only vaguely defined. The credibility function is used to either increase contrast of the lesion with respect to the adjacent tissue or to stain the lesion by a color overlay.

: Pelvic organ prolapse (POP) has become a common health problem among the aging population and affects an increasing number of elderly women worldwide. Studies within family and twin pairs provided strong evidence for the contribution of genetic factors to POP. Given the incomplete penetrance, polygenic traits, and small effect sizes of each variant in complex diseases, it is not always easy to evaluate the genetic susceptibility and molecular mechanisms involved in POP.

Purpose: To examine the associations and substitutions of dietary sugars [extrinsic (free) or intrinsic (non-free)] as well as dietary starch and fiber intakes for indices of body fat and cardiometabolic health.
Methods: Dietary intake was assessed at multiple times using multi-day 24-hour recalls over 18-months for indices of body fat (body fat %, waist circumference, BMI, and weight change) (n = 1066) and at baseline and 12 months for cardiometabolic outcomes (LDL, HDL, HbA1c) (n = 736). Bayesian modeling was applied to analyze the probabilistic impact of dietary carbohydrate components using credible intervals for association and substitution analyses with repeated measures random effects modeling.

Background: There is increasing need for effective incorporation of high-dimensional genetics data from individuals with varied ancestry in genome-wide association (GWAS) analyses. Classically, multi-ancestry GWAS analyses are performed using statistical meta-analysis to combine results conducted within homogeneous ancestry groups. The emergence of cosmopolitan reference panels makes collective preprocessing of GWAS data possible, but impact on downstream GWAS results in a mega-analysis framework merits investigation.

However, such acute, short-term intervention may not be effective for all PTSD patients.
Method: We analyzed data from a randomized clinical trial evaluating PE-PC to determine who may or may not benefit from PE-PC.
To compare the effectiveness of injury prevention programs (IPPs) for improving high-risk knee motion patterns in the context of reducing the risk of noncontact anterior cruciate ligament injury. Systematic review with Bayesian network meta-analysis.
