Article Synopsis
  • The study introduces a multilayer affective computing model (MACM) aimed at improving interactive decision-making in industrial control environments by incorporating human emotions and preferences.
  • The model includes three key components: methods for recognizing affective states through facial expressions, identifying personalized affective parameters, and defining decision-makers' preferences in the context of these interactions.
  • Two practical applications are demonstrated, focusing on PI controller tuning and manipulate vector optimization, showcasing the model's effectiveness in enhancing the decision-making process compared to traditional algorithms that do not account for emotional factors.

Modelling electrocatalytic reactions with a concerted treatment of multistep electron transfer kinetics and local reaction conditions.

J Phys Condens Matter

October 2021

College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Central South University, Changsha 410083, People's Republic of China.

A physicochemical model is developed for electrocatalytic reactions involving multiple electron transfer steps occurring in the electric double layer (EDL). The local reaction conditions are calculated using a mean-field EDL model, which is derived from a comprehensive grand potential that considers the steric effects, solvent polarization, and chemisorption-induced surface dipoles. Macroscopic mass transport in the so-called diffusion layer is controlled by the same set of controlling equations of the EDL model, without imposing the electroneutrality assumption as usual.

Neural mapping of guilt: a quantitative meta-analysis of functional imaging studies.

Brain Imaging Behav

August 2017

Department of Psychiatry & Douglas Mental Health University Institute, McGill Group for Suicide Studies, McGill University, Frank B. Common building, 6875 LaSalle Boulevard, Montréal, Québec, H4H1R3, Canada.

Guilt is a self-conscious emotion associated with the negative appraisal of one's behavior. In recent years, several neuroimaging studies have investigated the neural correlates of guilt, but no meta-analyses have yet identified the most robust activation patterns. A systematic review of literature found 16 functional magnetic resonance imaging studies with whole-brain analyses meeting the inclusion criteria, for a total of 325 participants and 135 foci of activation.

Background And Objective: Modern neuroimaging developments have demonstrated that cognitive functions correlate with brain networks rather than specific areas. The purpose of this paper was to analyze the connectivity of Broca's area based on language tasks.

Methods: A connectivity modeling study was performed by pooling data of Broca's activation in language tasks.

Purpose: Medial temporal lobe epilepsy (MTLE) is associated with MTLE network pathology within and beyond the hippocampus. The purpose of this meta-analysis was to identify consistent MTLE structural change to guide subsequent targeted analyses of these areas.

Methods: We performed an anatomic likelihood estimation (ALE) meta-analysis of 22 whole-brain voxel-based morphometry experiments from 11 published studies.
