The authors describe a false aneurysm of the profunda femoris artery caused by a bony fragment from the lesser trochanter after a proximal femoral fracture. False aneurysm as a complication of a hip fracture is rare; however it is essential to consider the possibility, more even so if there is inexplicable persisting pain after internal fixation. Symptoms are sometimes diffi-cult to judge, as they can be almost identical to usual symptoms after an operated hip fracture. In this case we present a female patient with persistent pain after a surgically fixed proximal femoral fracture. CT scan showed a false aneurysm caused by a bony fragment of the lesser trochanter. Because of the persisting mechanical stress from the bony fragment we decided to explore the false aneurysm and to remove the bony fragment. It is essential to be aware of adjacent vascular and neurological structures when a fracture is seen and operated on.

Background: The rupture of intracranial aneurysms (IAs) leads to aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH), which is associated with significant disability and mortality rates. This study aims to identify metabolic markers causally linked to the occurrence of IAs and aSAH through Mendelian randomization (MR), thereby offering novel predictive and therapeutic targets.

Methods: We conducted a genome-wide association study (GWAS) on IAs and aSAH, analyzing 1,400 metabolomic indices from the Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging (CLSA) cohort (n = 8,299).

Background: Traumatic arteriovenous fistulas (AVFs) are rare entities, especially when referring to visceral arterioportal AVFs. Currently, there are no large epidemiological studies looking specifically at traumatic visceral AVFs. When traumatic AVFs have been discussed in the literature, it is in the form of case reports or case series and focused on peripheral AVFs.

Pseudoaneurysm is a common vascular abnormality marked by arterial wall disruption, with complications that can arise unpredictably and carry high morbidity and mortality rates. This case study emphasises the management of recurrent haematuria and clot retention in a young man presenting to the emergency department. It underscores the importance of early recognition and management of recurrent haematuria and clot retention caused by pseudoaneurysm, emphasising the critical role of multidisciplinary collaboration in optimising patient outcomes.

Transapical coil embolization for subannular aortic pseudoaneurysm.

Aortic pseudoaneurysm is a rare but life-threatening complication following aortic surgery. Although surgical repair remains the gold standard for treatment, alternative approaches such as transcatheter strategies are increasingly considered viable options, particularly in patients with high surgical risk due to comorbidities, anatomical challenges or technical constraints. We present the case of a 72-year-old male patient who developed a subaortic pseudoaneurysm during radiological follow-up after a previous Bentall operation.

As a blood flow control technique for embolization using glue (n-butyl cyanoacrylate; NBCA) for peripheral artery aneurysm/pseudoaneurysm, we placed a vascular plug or coils at the proximal inflow vessel before glue injection. We describe this maneuver, which we call the glue in lockdown technique. Four peripheral aneurysms-two pulmonary artery pseudoaneurysms, one pancreaticoduodenal arcade pseudoaneurysm, and one internal iliac artery aneurysm-deemed unsuitable for conventional embolization because of abnormal blood flow, coagulopathy, or anatomical complexity were embolized with our technique.
