Background: Neurological complication of loiasis is an uncommon event, and is usually precipitated by treatment especially if microfilaria loads are high.
Objective: To report an unusual presentation of loiasis with central nervous system involvement.
Case Report: A 60-year-old farmer of Yoruba origin from Southwestern Nigeria, developed meningoencephalitis from Loa loa, unrelated to antifilarial drug treatment. The presentation was unusual hence there was a slight delay in diagnosis. This case draws attention to L. loa, a neglected filarial, and highlights the unusual manifestation and diagnostic difficulties it can pose even in areas endemic for the infection.
Conclusion: This case illustrates the high mortality associated with L. loa infection when the central nervous system is directly involved.

Transcutaneous bilirubinometry (TcB) is a recognized tool to monitor neonatal hyperbilirubinemia, demonstrating a high correlation with total serum bilirubin (TSB) before phototherapy. However, once phototherapy is started, TcB may become unreliable. To evaluate the correlation and agreement of TcB measured under variously patched skin at different sites (a coin over the sternum, eye shield over the forehead, and diaper area at the back) with TSB.

Background: The primary objective of this study was to estimate the effective cerebral perfusion pressure (CPPe), critical closing pressure (CrCP), and resistance-area product (RAP) of the intravascular common carotid artery using three different methods. These estimates were then compared to the reference method of linear regression (LR).
Methods: In our previous study, we employed linear regression to evaluate the values of CrCP and RAP.

Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the validity and applicability of a non-exercise estimation of cardiorespiratory fitness using resting seismocardiography (SCG eV̇Opeak) in people with overweight and obesity before and after a 14-week lifestyle intervention.
Methods: The study was carried out at a Folk high school that offers 14-week courses on lifestyle changes where participants live at the school and voluntarily participate in daily lectures and activities. Sixty-seven men and women with age and body mass index between 18 and 70 years and 25-50 kg·m were tested at baseline, and 52 had a follow-up test after 14 weeks.

Cardiomyopathy is a common co-morbidity in individuals with Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD). This retrospective single centre study investigated the relationship between age at loss of ambulation (LOA) and late stage left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) in 84 individuals (> 16 years old) with DMD taking glucocorticoid and ACE inhibitors treatment. Regression analyses showed a positive correlation between later age at LOA and higher LVEF in adulthood (linear regression estimate 1.

Objectives: To produce standards of references for quality control and assess the reproducibility of fetal ultrasound Doppler measurements commonly used for blood flow assessment in fetal growth.
Methods: Women with singleton normal pregnancies were prospectively recruited at University College London Hospital, UK, between 24 and 41 weeks. Umbilical artery (UA), middle cerebral artery (MCA), and their pulsatility indices (PI), resistance indices (RI) and ratios such as cerebro-placental (CPR) and umbilical cerebral ratio (UCR) were obtained twice by two sonographers in training or after completion of training, blind to each other's measurements.
