A 39-year-old woman who had suffered from intermittent left back pain for 7 months was diagnosed as having a tumor in the posterior mediastinum to the left of the seventh thoracic vertebra. It was attached to the descending aorta and to a rib. Preoperative contrast magnetic resonance imaging strongly suggested that the tumor was a cystic lesion. We resected the tumor, and it was revealed to be a bronchogenic cyst. After 7 months' follow-up, the patient is asymptomatic and without complications. Bronchogenic cysts are rare developmental abnormalities of the primitive foregut and seldom arise in the posterior mediastinum, especially in a periaortic position. The preoperative diagnosis is difficult because of the diverse nature of a cyst's contents. We were able to predict preoperatively the nature of the tumor and its relation to other structures. Contrast magnetic resonance imaging is helpful in elucidating these cysts.

Objective: Our study aims to assess the clinical effectiveness of using MRI in diagnosing various shoulder pain-related conditions among patients at King Abdulaziz University Hospital.

Methods: 383 patients who were admitted to King Abdulaziz University Hospital and had shoulder magnetic resonance imaging between January 2020 and July 2024 were studied retrospectively. The dataset was subjected to a thorough statistical analysis using descriptive and inferential approaches.

Significance: Cerebral blood flow (CBF) and cerebral blood volume (CBV) are key metrics for regional cerebrovascular monitoring. Simultaneous, non-invasive measurement of CBF and CBV at different brain locations would advance cerebrovascular monitoring and pave the way for brain injury detection as current brain injury diagnostic methods are often constrained by high costs, limited sensitivity, and reliance on subjective symptom reporting.

Aim: We aim to develop a multi-channel non-invasive optical system for measuring CBF and CBV at different regions of the brain simultaneously with a cost-effective, reliable, and scalable system capable of detecting potential differences in CBF and CBV across different regions of the brain.

Malignant transformation is a rare complication of ovarian mature cystic teratoma that occurs in 1-3% of cases. We herein report a case of squamous cell carcinoma originating from mature cystic teratoma of the ovary diagnosed 10 years after initial tumor detection. A 69-year-old woman presented to the Department of Internal Medicine with a seven-month history of abdominal fullness.

Intramedullary spinal cord metastasis (ISCM) is a rare manifestation of renal cell carcinoma (RCC). A 73-year-old man presented with left shoulder pain and left upper extremity weakness for two months. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) revealed intramedullary and intradural extramedullary lesions at the C5 level, compressing the spinal cord from the center of the cord and the left ventral side.

Enhancing the Optically Detected Magnetic Resonance Signal of Organic Molecular Qubits.

In quantum information science and sensing, electron spins are often purified into a specific polarization through an optical-spin interface, a process known as optically detected magnetic resonance (ODMR). Diamond-NV centers and transition metals are both excellent platforms for these so-called color centers, while metal-free molecular analogues are also gaining popularity for their extended polarization lifetimes, milder environmental impacts, and reduced costs. In our earlier attempt at designing such organic high-spin π-diradicals, we proposed to spin-polarize by shelving triplet = ±1 populations as singlets.
