: Amblyopia is a condition where children undergo unilateral or bilateral vision loss due to a variety of disorders that impact the visual pathway. The assessment of retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) thickness in amblyopia has made optical coherence tomography (OCT) a useful technique for studying the pathophysiology of this condition. This study was conducted to assess OCT results for various forms of amblyopia, including macular thickness and peripapillary RNFL thickness.

: Hip fractures present a global public health concern, with a forecasted rise in incidence and having associated increased mortality rates. This study aimed to investigate whether the AO Foundation/Orthopaedic Trauma Association (AO/OTA) classification of a first hip fracture can predict the location and severity of a subsequent contralateral fracture. : We retrospectively evaluated patients with non-simultaneous bilateral hip fractures between January 2000 and February 2021 and analyzed the type and severity of each fracture using the AO/OTA classification system, interval between fractures (TI), and patients' characteristics, including sex, age at time of each fracture, and radiographic measurements of hip morphology.

The purpose of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to identify the prevalence of synchronous contralateral tonsil carcinoma (SCTC) amongst patients with tonsil carcinoma or head and neck squamous cell carcinoma of unknown primary (HNSCCUP). Thirteen retrospective studies, comprising 2623 patients, were analysed, revealing an overall pooled SCTC prevalence of 4%, rising to 10% in HNSCCUP cases. HPV/p16 positivity was associated with SCTC prevalence of 3%, while HPV/p16 negativity was greater at 8%.

This investigation focused on the influence of collagen on the integrity of the Schneiderian membrane during maxillary sinus augmentation in a rabbit model. The aim of this study was to elucidate the relationship between membrane integrity and bone regeneration in augmented maxillary sinuses using collagenated and non-collagenated grafts, through detailed histological and histomorphometric analyses. In this forward-looking, randomized, split-mouth design, bilateral maxillary sinus augmentation was conducted on 12 rabbits.
