Pyrolysis (Py)-GC/MS was applied to differentiate between automobile paint samples. The method was used for analysis of 36 samples of styrene acrylic urethane clearcoats that were indistinguishable on the basis of their infrared spectra and elemental composition. Differences observed in the obtained pyrograms of the compared paint samples were relatively small. Therefore, statistical analysis of the obtained results was performed. The likelihood ratio test suitable for multivariate data analysis supported by analysis of data structure by graphical model was used. This approach allowed not only distinguishing the samples compared, but also allowed the evaluation of the evidential value of such observations, which is very important from a forensic point of view.

The photopolymerization-induced microphase separation (photo-PIMS) process involving a reactive polymer block was implemented to fabricate nanostructured quasi-solid polymer electrolytes (QSPEs) for use in lithium metal batteries (LMBs). This innovative one-pot fabrication enhances interfacial properties in LMBs by enabling nanostructuring of QSPE directly onto the electrodes. This process also allows for customization of QSPE structural dimensions by tweaking the architecture and molar mass of poly[(oligo ethylene glycol) methyl ether methacrylate--styrene] (P(OEGMA--S)) macromolecular chain transfer agent.

Conductive hydrogel strain sensors demonstrate extensive potential in artificial robotics, human-computer interaction, and health monitoring, owing to their excellent flexibility and biocompatibility. Wearable strain sensors for real-time monitoring of human activities require hydrogels with self-adhesion, desirable sensitivity, and wide working range. However, balancing the high sensitivity and a wide working range remains a challenge.

Rhodixan A1 is the trade name for -ethyl -(1-methoxycarbonylethyl)dithiocarbonate, a RAFT/MADIX agent used by Syensqo to produce block copolymer additives for aqueous formulations on an industrial scale. Chain transfer coefficients to Rhodixan A1 determined for 25 different styrenic, acrylate, and acrylamide monomers were relatively low (0.6 < C < 3.

The article is devoted to the creation of enzymatic nanoreactors based on polystyrene-block-poly(acrylic acid) (PS-b-PAA) copolymers containing bioscavengers capable of neutralizing toxic esters both in the body and in the environment. Block copolymers of different amphiphilicity, hydrophilicity and molecular weights were synthesized and characterized using gel permeation chromatography, NMR and UV spectroscopy. Polymeric nanocontainers in the absence and presence of human butyrylcholinesterase were made by film hydration and characterized by dynamic light scattering and microscopy methods.
