We analyze the Bogoliubov spectrum of the Bose-Hubbard model with a finite number of sites and Bose particles by using a semiclassical approach. This approach allows us to take into account the finite-size effects responsible for evolution of the Bogoliubov spectrum into an irregular (chaotic) spectrum at higher energies. A manifestation of this transition for the excitation dynamics of the Bose-Hubbard system is discussed as well.

We present a novel approach to the Bogoliubov theory of dilute Bose gases, allowing for an elementary derivation of the celebrated Lee-Huang-Yang formula in the Gross-Pitaevskii regime. Furthermore, we identify the low lying excitation spectrum beyond the Gross-Pitaevskii scaling, extending a recent result (Brennecke et al. in Rev Math Phys 34, 2022) to significantly more singular scaling regimes.

Article Synopsis
  • - Recent research into Yu-Shiba-Rusinov (YSR) states in kagome superconductors highlights the need for a deeper understanding of how local superconductivity interacts with magnetic impurities and how this varies with the strength of their interactions.
  • - This study employs a numerical approach using Bogoliubov-de Gennes equations to analyze an -wave superconducting kagome model affected by a single magnetic impurity, finding that the local pair potential decreases near the impurity as interaction strength increases.
  • - The research identifies a first-order phase transition at high interaction strengths, resulting in stable and metastable states, and indicates that the properties of this transition depend significantly on the chemical potential in the kagome energy spectrum.

Two-dimensional intrinsic long-range magnetic monolayers with high transition temperatures have attracted great interest in both fundamental studies and practical applications. In this study, we use a combination of first-principles calculations based on density functional theory (DFT), and unitary transformation of the effective Heisenberg model to investigate the electronic structure and magnetic properties of a [NiS] monolayer. The phonon calculations reveal that the [NiS] monolayer is dynamically stable in the wurtzite phase.

Structure and scaling of Kitaev chain across a quantum critical point in real space.

The spatial Kibble-Zurek mechanism is applied to the Kitaev chain with inhomogeneous pairing interactions that vanish in half of the lattice and result in a quantum critical point separating the superfluid and normal-gas phases in real space. The weakly-interacting BCS theory predicts scaling behavior of the penetration of the pair wavefunction into the normal-gas region different from conventional power-law results due to the non-analytic dependence of the BCS order parameter on the interaction. The Bogoliubov-de Gennes (BdG) equation produces numerical results confirming the scaling behavior and hints complications in the strong-interaction regime.

Manipulating chiral Majorana mode with additional potential in superconductor-Chern insulator heterostructures.

We employed the self-consistent Bogoliubov-de Gennes equations to explore the states of chiral Majorana mode in quantum anomalous Hall insulators in proximity to a superconductor, leading to the development of an extensive topological phase diagram. Our investigation focused on how an additional potential affects the separation of chiral Majorana modes across different phase conditions. We substantiated our findings by examining the zero-energy Local Density of States spectrum and the probability distribution of the chiral Majorana modes.
