The third-order nonlinear optical responses of beta-carotene and its homologue having a conjugation-double bond n = 15 have been investigated using sub-20 fs ultra-short optical pulses in order to clarify the dissipation processes of excess energy. Using the four-wave mixing spectroscopy, we observed a clear coherent oscillation with a period of a few tens of femtoseconds. The spectral density of these molecules was estimated that allowed the theoretical linear and nonlinear optical signals to be directly compared with the experimental data. Calculations based on the Brownian oscillator model were performed under the impulsive excitation limit. We show that the memory of the vibronic coherence generated upon the excitation into the S(2) state is lost via the relaxation process including the S(1) state. The vibronic decoherence lifetime of the system was estimated to be 1 ps, which is about 5 times larger than the life time of the S(2) state ( approximately 150 fs) determined in previous studies. The role of coherence and the efficient energy transfer in the light-harvesting antenna complexes are discussed.

We report photon-phonon dressing quantization dependency on polarization. Destructive dressing polarization quantization is exhibited in fluorescence (FL) for narrowband signals, while constructive dominant dressing quantization is exhibited in fluorescence (FL) for broadband signals due to phase perturbation. Furthermore, constructive polarization quantization results due to coexistence of generation and dressing effects in strong and competitive Rabi frequency.

Few longitudinal studies have examined the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on personal behaviors. This study investigated changes in four social behaviors among the Japanese public during and after the COVID-19 pandemic, using four-wave longitudinal data (2020-2023) from the Japan COVID-19 and Society Internet Survey (JACSIS). In total, 8622 respondents continuously participated in the surveys.

Multiple coherent radiations are achieved in a water-3-aminopropanol (3AP) mixed solution through cascaded four-wave mixing (C-FWM) and cascaded Stokes (C-Stokes) processes, both driven by stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) in this work. The O-H vibration peak from water is replaced by the emergence of the -NH symmetric stretching Raman peaks from 3AP, with intensity approaching that of the -CH symmetric stretching peak. The dual-wavelength SRS signals for the -NH and -CH stretching vibrations have a relatively small frequency interval of about 400 cm (16 nm).

Leveraging the unique properties of quantum entanglement, quantum entanglement distribution networks support multiple quantum information applications and are essential to the development of quantum networks. However, practical implementation poses fundamental challenges to network scalability and flexibility. Here, we propose a reconfigurable entanglement distribution network scheme based on tunable multipump excitation of a spontaneous four-wave mixing (SFWM) source and a time-sharing method.

In molecular beam scattering experiments, an important technique for measuring product energy and angular distributions is velocity map imaging following photoionization of one or more scattered species. For studies with cold molecular beams, the ultimate resolution of such a study is often limited by the product detection process. When state-selective ionization detection is used, excess energy from the ionization step can transfer to kinetic energy in the target molecular ion-electron pair, resulting in measurable cation recoil.
