Chronic pain and restricted mobility, hallmark features of rheumatic diseases, substantially affect patients' quality of life, often resulting in physical disability and emotional distress. Given the long-term nature of these conditions, there is a growing interest in complementary therapeutic approaches, emphasizing the need to explore non-pharmacological treatments. Hydrotherapy, balneotherapy, and mud therapy have emerged as effective interventions to alleviate pain, reduce inflammation, improve joint mobility, and enhance overall physical and mental well-being.

In the course of pipe jacking construction, the carrying-soil effect frequently arises, influenced by factors such as excavation unloading, ongoing disturbance from successive pipe sections, and the progressive accumulation of soil adhesion. The pipe jacking slurry serves as a critical agent for friction reduction and strata support, essential for the secure advancement of the construction process. This study introduces the Microbial-Induced Calcium Carbonate Precipitation (MICP) technology into the realm of pipe jacking slurry, aiming to enhance its friction-reduction capabilities and the stability of the soil enveloping the pipe.

Alteration of nitrogen sink and emission by vegetation distribution in a wetland with significant change in water level.

J Environ Manage

December 2024

Key Laboratory of the Three Gorges Reservoir Region's Eco-Environment, Ministry of Education, Chongqing University, Chongqing, 400045, China; Department of Ecological Sciences and Engineering, Chongqing University, Chongqing, 400045, China. Electronic address:

In wetlands, hydrological conditions drive plant community distribution, forming vegetation zones with plant species and material cycling. This mediates nitrogen migration and NO emissions within wetlands. Five vegetation zones in a large wetland were studied during flooding and drought periods.

No FDA-approved medications for methamphetamine (MA) use disorder (MUD) are available. Suvorexant (SUVO), a dual orexin receptor antagonist that is FDA approved for insomnia treatment, reduces MA self-administration and MA-induced reinstatement responding in preclinical studies. SUVO may also reduce MA use by targeting substance use risk factors, including insomnia, stress, cue reactivity, and craving.

Effective road terrain recognition is crucial for enhancing the driving safety, passability, and comfort of autonomous vehicles. This study addresses the challenges of accurately identifying diverse road surfaces using deep learning in complex environments. We introduce a novel end-to-end Tire Noise Recognition Residual Network (TNResNet) integrated with a time-frequency attention module, designed to capture and leverage time-frequency information from tire noise signals for road terrain classification.
