A series of prostacyclin receptor agonists was prepared by modifying the central heteroaromatic ring of lead compound 2, and a docking study was performed to investigate their structure-activity relationships by using a homology-modeled structure of the prostacyclin receptor. Compound 2 and its derivatives could be docked to the prostacyclin receptor in two ways depending on the position of the nitrogen atom within the heteroaromatic ring. Furthermore, hydrogen bonding between the nitrogen atom in the heteroaromatic ring and the hydroxyl group of Ser20 or Tyr75 of the receptor appears to be important for the potent expression of biological activity.

Cancer, characterized by uncontrolled growth and spread of abnormal cells potentially influencing almost all tissues in the body, is one of the most devastating and lethal diseases throughout the world. Chemotherapy is one of the principal approaches for cancer treatment, but multidrug resistance and severe side effects represent the main barriers to the success of therapy, creating a vital need to develop novel chemotherapeutic agents. The 1,2,3-triazole moiety can be conveniently constructed by "click chemistry" and could exert diverse noncovalent interactions with various enzymes in cancer cells.

The C-H arylation of 2-quinolinecarboxyamide bearing a C-Br bond at the -aryl moiety is carried out with a palladium catalyst. The reaction proceeds at the C-H bond on the pyridine ring adjacent to the amide group in the presence of 10 mol % Pd(OAc) at 110 °C to afford the cyclized product in 42% yield. The yield is improved to 94% when the reaction is performed with PPh as a ligand of palladium.

Electrophilic aromatic substitution at the C5 position of isoxazolines and construction of a new quaternary carbon center were achieved in this paper. This is the first report of carbon-carbon (C-C) bond formation onto isoxazoline without compromising the ring structure. Various aromatics including heteroaromatics gave the desired products in good yields, especially aromatics bearing electron-donating groups.

Oxindole is a nature-derived heteroaromatic nucleus with a history of preclinical uses in various conditions. In this study, oxindole derivatives, 6-chloro-3-(3-hydroxybenzylidene) indolin-2-one (3OH) and 6-chloro-3-(4-hydroxybenzylidene) indolin-2-one (4OH) were evaluated for nephroprotective and hepatoprotective effects. Paracetamol-induced nephrotoxicity and hepatotoxicity model was used in mice.

Background: The aqueous extraction of sesame oil is a traditional process that generates a large amount of melanoidins. However, little is known about the characteristics and bioactive functions of these melanoidins.
Results: Electronic tongue, fluorescence emission spectroscopy, and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy analyses indicated that melanoidins from sesame residues (MELs) are brown macromolecular compounds with protein skeletons and heteroaromatic ring structures, a bitter taste, and instability in strong oxidative and reductive environments.
