E-learning facilitates access to educational programmes via electronic asynchronous or real time communication without the constraints of time or place. However, not all skills can be acquired via e-learning, thus blended approaches have emerged, where traditional academic processes have been combined with e-learning systems. This paper presents qualitative findings from a study evaluating a blended approach to patient safety education. The 3-day face-to-face training in Root Cause Analysis supported by e-learning resources was designed by the National Patient Safety Agency. The study evaluated the efficacy of the blended learning approach, and explored how operational practices in NHS organisations supported staffs' skill in using electronic resources. Data collection techniques included pre and post-course Confidence Logs, Individual Interviews, Focus Groups and Evaluation Questionnaires. Students' views on blended learning varied. Some were positive, while others felt e-learning did not suit their preferred learning style, or the subject matter. Many students did not engage with the e-learning resources. Lack of awareness regarding the e-learning component, combined with inconsistent access to computing facilities may have contributed to this. For this reason a series of recommendations are outlined to guide those wishing to adopt blended learning approaches in the future.

Essential oils (EOs) exhibit a broad spectrum of biological activities; however, their clinical application is hindered by challenges, such as variability in chemical composition and chemical/physical instability. A critical limitation is the lack of chemical consistency across EO samples, which impedes standardization. Despite this, evidence suggests that EOs with differing chemical profiles often display similar (micro)biological activities, raising the possibility of standardizing EOs based on their biological effects rather than their chemical composition.

Objective: This study evaluated the impact of adding authentic patient video training to a base e-module featuring simulated patient videos, aimed at improving the mental status examination (MSE) skills of fifth-year medical students during their psychiatric rotation.
Methods: A randomized controlled trial (RCT) was conducted with 290 students, assigned to either an experimental group, the full e-learning group (Full), or an active comparator group, the limited e-learning group (Limited). The Limited group received a base e-module on MSE, while the Full group received both the base e-module and an additional module with 23 authentic patient videos.

Objectives: The study evaluates the fifth cohort of the palliative care cancer treatment centres (CTC) educational programme in India with the aim of refining the course on the basis of participant feedback thereby improving palliative care services at cancer centres.
Methods: The intervention included participation in the CTC 5 teaching and training programme, which encompassed foundation course, refresher course, access to palliative care training modules, clinical training and mentorship under palliative care experts. The feedback was taken from all 57 participants (29 doctors and 28 nurses) of CTC 5 programme representing 14 hospitals across nine regions in India.
