Imaging in the ICU plays a crucial role in patient care. The portable chest radiograph (CXR) is the most commonly requested radiographic examination, and, despite its limitations, it often reveals abnormalities that may not be detected clinically. Recent advances in CT technology have made it possible to obtain diagnostic-quality images even in the most dyspneic patient. This article reviews the significant contribution thoracic imaging makes in diagnosing and managing critically ill patients.

Persistent Fourth Right Aortic Arch (PRAA) with retention of the left ductus arteriosus constitutes the most prevalent clinically significant form of vascular ring anomalies in both dogs and cats, accounting for approximately 95% of aortic arch developmental anomalies. This anomaly causes oesophageal compression in weaned animals, leading to restricted passage of solid food, postprandial regurgitation, and potential development of acquired megaoesophagus. Notably, neonatal or lactating animals usually do not exhibit these consequences.

Objective: To investigate the safety and feasibility of sleeve resection under Uni-VATS following neoadjuvant chemotherapy combined with immunotherapy for locally advanced central-type non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC).
Methods: We analyzed 10 cIIB-IIIB NSCLC patients who underwent sleeve lung resection under single-port thoracoscopy from December 2022 to August 2023 after receiving platinum-based chemotherapy combined with albumin paclitaxel and programmed cell death protein-1 (PD-1) inhibitor drugs. Perioperative clinical data, side effects during neoadjuvant therapy, operation time, intraoperative blood loss, conversion rate to open thoracotomy, postoperative duration of chest tube placement, postoperative drainage volume, postoperative complications, and tumor outcomes were recorded.

Objective: Respiratory muscle dysfunction in patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a big challenge for treatment and rehabilitation. To quantitatively assess diaphragm and chest wall dysfunction using dynamic Magnetic Resonance Imaging (Dyn-MRI) in patients with IPF.
Methods: Ninety-six patients with IPF and 50 gender- and age-matched controls were prospectively included and underwent D-MRI with a dynamic fast spoiled gradient-recalled echo sequence.

Lung ultrasonography is an essential tool in the management of pleural infection. We report the usage of lung point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) using a handheld ultrasound system (HHUS), which changed the immediate management of a complex pleural effusion.A middle-aged diabetic patient presented with fever, dyspnoea and left-sided pleuritic chest pain, suggestive of left pleural infection.
