Practicing What They Preach: Do Medical Specialty and Subspecialty Conferences Incorporate Physician Wellness Into Their Programs?

Background: Depending upon their organization and content, medical conferences can enhance wellness or create additional stress for physician attendees. The objective of our study was to examine the degree to which major medical specialty and subspecialty conferences incorporate wellness into their meeting programs.
Methods: We performed a cross-sectional study of major medical conferences occurring in 2023 representing specialties and subspecialties with the greatest number of active physicians.
Recruitment and retention in cancer trials are long-standing issues, exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. The UK National Institute of Health Research and leading clinicians have emphasised the urgency to achieve and surpass prepandemic levels of participation. Data from a recent UK trial demonstrated the impact of COVID-19 and highlighted factors that limited recruitment.

Complementing discourse following a February 2023 event on dietary protein needs in Southeast Asia (SEA), this symposium report summarizes the region's protein intake, while simultaneously examining the impact of dietary shift toward complementary and alternative proteins and their health implications. It highlights the importance of protein quality in dietary evaluations, optimal intake, and sustainability, advocating for environmentally conscious protein production and innovation in future foods. Discussion points, expert opinions, national nutrition data, and relevant literature, addressing protein intake and quality, their impact on human health, and various technologies for future foods production, have been included.

As migrant populations age, the care system is confronted with the question how to respond to care needs of an increasingly diverse population of older adults. We used qualitative intersectional analysis to examine differential preferences and experiences with care at the end of life of twenty-five patients and their relatives from Suriname, Morocco and Turkey living in The Netherlands. Our analysis focused on the question how - in light of impairment - ethnicity, religion and gender intersect to create differences in social position that shape preferences and experiences related to three main themes: place of care at the end of life; discussing prognosis, advance care, and end-of-life care; and, end-of-life decision-making.

Background: The number of practicing lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) cardiologists is unknown despite diversity initiatives focused on understanding workforce demographics.
Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the prevalence, sources of mistreatment, and measures of wellness among the LGBTQ+ cardiology community.
Methods: An online survey was sent to the American College of Cardiology Fellow in Training and Early Career Professional Listservs and shared on social media sites.
