Disasters, both natural and man-made, impose a significant burden on the mental health of individuals, communities, and societies. The frequency and intensity of disasters are increasing; 3–4fold compared to the last century, with 400–500 significant disasters/year, affecting >1.5 billion people worldwide and costing 250–400 billion dollars/year.

Reprocessing failure of endoscopes may result in outbreaks of serious infections in vulnerable patients caused by Gram-negative bacteria. (PSOL) was detected in 6 automated endoscope washer-disinfectors (AEWDs) in two reprocessing units during routine check and probing for quality control. Ten endoscopes were probed yielding the growth of PSOL.

Employing rigid (in)organic materials as reinforcement for dynamic covalent networks (DCNs) is an effective approach to develop high-performance materials. Yet, recycling of these materials after failure often necessitates inefficient chemical reprocessing or inevitably alters their performance due to unrepairable inert components. Here, a non-covalent reinforcement strategy is presented by introducing a supramolecular additive to a DCN that can reversibly depolymerize and reform on demand, therefore acting as an adaptive and repairable reinforcement.

Objectives: In response to worldwide shortages of N95 masks during the severe acute respiratory syndrome-coronavirus-2 pandemic, various strategies have been used. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend several strategies, including simple isolation to reprocessing methods using vaporized hydrogen peroxide to guide reuse of masks up to five times. National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) quantitative fit testing was performed after five trials of donning and doffing in one cohort of new masks and two cohorts of repeatedly sterilized "duckbill"-type N95 masks.
