Objective: To evaluate the periodontal conditions after the wedge-shaped defect was restored by gingival retraction technique.

Methods: A total of 138 mandibular premolars with wedge-shaped defect were selected and divided into A, B groups. Group A was restored with Dyract after using retraction cord. Group B was directly restored with Dyract. Clinical parameters including plaque index (PLI), gingival index (GI), sulcus bleeding index (SBI), probing depth (PD), volumes of gingival crevicular fluid (GCF) and levels of aspartate aminotransferases (AST) of gingival crevicular fluid were measured at baseline, 1 week, 1 month, 3 months and 6 months after operation.

Results: There was no difference in PLI, GI, SBI, PD between group A and B during 6 months after operation, while the difference of GCF and AST was significant between group A and B at 3 months and 6 months after operation (P < 0.05, P < 0.01).

Conclusions: Gingival retraction technique applied in wedge-shaped defect restoration can reduce the damage to the periodontal tissue.

Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Peking Union Medical College Hospital, Peking Union Medical College, Chinese Academy of Medical Science, Beijing, People's Republic of China.

Background: Gorham-Stout disease (GSD) is a rare disease characterized by osteolysis and lymphatic malformations. GSD involving the spine is exceptionally rare and lacks a standard cure. The aim of this article was to report a case of GSD with scoliosis treated via corrective surgery and medication.

Purpose: To determine local OCT structural correlates of deep visual sensitivity defects (threshold of ≤10 decibels on microperimetry) in early atrophic age-related macular degeneration (AMD).

Design: Prospective observational study.

Participants: Forty eyes from 40 participants, with at least incomplete retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) and outer retinal atrophy (iRORA), or more advanced atrophic lesion(s).

Objective: Despite the high sensitivity and specificity of ventilation/perfusion (VQ) scintigraphy in the diagnosis of chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH) and chronic thromboembolic disease (CTED), V/Q scintigraphy cannot distinguish whether the thrombus is acute or chronic. In our study, we aimed to compare pulmonary computed tomography angiography (CTA) findings with V/Q scintigraphy findings in CTEPH and CTED patients and to identify findings that would indicate chronic thrombus.

Subjects And Methods: Eighteen patients diagnosed with CTEPH and CTED at our institution were included in the study between January 2020 and January 2024.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to develop, optimise, train, and evaluate an algorithm for performing Supervised Automated Kinetic Perimetry (SAKP) using digitalised perimetric simulation data.

Methods: The original SAKP algorithm was based on findings from a multicentre study to establish reference values by semi-automated kinetic perimetry (SKP) combined with an automated examination method with moving stimuli ("Program K", developed in Japan). The algorithm evaluated the outer angles of isopter segments and responded to deviations from expected values by placing examination vectors to measure the outer boundaries of the visual field (VF).

Purpose: This study aimed to present a case of a woman diagnosed with congenital nasal optic disc hypoplasia (NOH) in the right eye.

Observations: A woman in her 20s presented with a small optic disc, irregular optic disc margins with a double-ring sign, and wedge-shaped defects temporally extending from Mariotte's blind spot in the right eye. The radial peripapillary capillary (RPC) density around the optic nerve disc was examined using optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA).
